Jake T.

He looked anywhere but Townsville when the camera showed him later on with that 1000 yard stare on his face.

Didn’t look good that’s for sure. Staying down that long was not a good look. That shot of him on the bench was disturbing also….he looked quite lost? Hopefully he recovers well!!!

I was hoping that the stare was him thinking about "no chance for soo then" - but maybe that was wishful thinking by me, he...just looked a bit out of it.

Is nobody concerned that the cowboys player raised the elbow of his non-ball carrying arm into Jake’s face?

Penalty against Guac for flailing his feet around but nothing for a direct elbow that knocked Jake cold… the nrl is cooked…
I watched the replay and it was shoulder to head that caused it. The elbow came up underneath and had little to do with it.

I hated seeing Jake like that but he got his head in the wrong position trying to make a big tackle after his unforced error. Players use their shoulders in almost every tackle to bump the defender. It was just a bad accident IMO.

And he did the same thing a few weeks ago for his first concussion of the season. Said it then, but it's worth repeating that there was a time when Jake would NEVER get his head in the wrong position defensively. We're talking about a player with one of the best defensive techniques of the NRL era. So it really worries me that he is prone to making errors like this at this stage of his career.

The commentators called the elbow and I gotta say that it looked elbow to me on the replay… but I watched it once so thx for clearing it up…

Mind you, I have seen Angus Crichton raise his elbow into the defenders head/neck 3 times in 4 weeks without a penalty so not convinced the NRL really gives a f*ck about player safety…

Correct.

The NRL only care about their potential future liability.

That's why the onus is always on the defender.

Yeah, Crichton is an absolute bandit for raising the forearm into defenders faces. I can’t stand him because of it.

Side on, it looks like Jake copped an elbow because it comes up under his chin, but there’s another angle showing the shoulder gets him flush, before the elbow quickly comes up underneath. Either way, it was nasty and frightening. Let’s hope he is doing OK today.

What did the ref call Olas penalty - a “dangerous action”? After originally calling it a “dangerous tackle” until the players reminded him he was the one being tackled. First I’ve heard of that one, but if it is a thing, Crichton is definitely guilty every game.

In Glenn Stewarts first 4 years he played 2, 5, 5 and 7 games.

Some even said he was only in the team causecof his brother.
I’d just like to take accountability first hand. I do think Ben showed something last night I haven’t personally seen from him. Needs to use this game as his benchmark but I’m not too proud to admit I’ve been made to eat my words after watching him last night. Let’s hope he keeps at it, go manly

Jake's not going to improve at this age and as he gets slower he's at more risk of getting his head in the wrong spot. Probably time to look at hanging up the boots.

Jake has been concussed twice recently and on each occasion he went high instead of his customary target of the breadbasket. Needs to go back to his old ways instead of this new waltzing style of holding them so the defence can reset. Nowhere near as effective and also is having dire ramifications for him.
