Jeremiah Nanai

No way we could fit him under the cap right now. I'll be curious to see what we can accomplish next year once DCE's contract comes down a bit

Nanai is a right side edge, Payten put Bateman on the right and Nanai to the left.

As much as it is on Nanai to perform Payten deserves a bit of questioning on why the move, in attack Nanai is an aerial threat when challenging the ball in the air, runs a nice line and has a good offload.

He would be a good pickup for anyone needing a right edge backrower plenty of talent but has a significant contract dollars wise.

Don't know what Supercoach Payten's problem with Nanai is but he'd look good in a Manly jersey and be a instant 10x improvement on Blurto.
Paytens problem is that he is a Superflop coach who has failed to get his team firing
He is losing the dressing room starting with the Super talented Nanai.

Payten will be fired before rnd 10. Their pack is too small and leaving Nanai and Taumalolo in QCup is madness.

Why, when talk turns to recruitment, does someone always claims we can't fit said player under our Cap? Yet a club like the Bulldogs, who have paid plenty for a completely new team over the past three seasons, is continually recruiting 'name' players? We have been paying 'unders' for our recruitment for several seasons. Even our highest paid recent recruit, Brooks, was an astute purchase. Plenty of clubs would have paid a lot more for him.
DCE and Turbo are not being overpaid in today's market; a market where the bog average Dylan Brown is on monopoly money.
I look at our roster and I'm "sure" our Cap situation is not as tight as I keep reading.

Regardless of cap space or not, talented Jeremiah is not what Manly needs.
We need a hard-nosed, hard working, hard straight running, hard tackling forward (either prop or second row).
Pretty clear to me we've been on the lookout for one, and have bought some short-term fixes while we wait for Mr right.

If that is true then we missed our shot when Terrell May came on the market…

I'm not so sure.
Chooks had him under contract but thought he wasn't the right person to set the tone for their young players coming through. Despite his on-field performance being good, in fact very good.
You reckon the Chooks lost the plot? I'd say it's a red flag at very least.
Of course desperate clubs will take a risk on a player... but possibly telling that the club to sign him was the 3 time wooden spooners (about as desperate as you can get)

Because DCE, Turbo and Jake and Haumole alone are taking up something like 35-40% of the cap and 26 players need to fit into the rest of it.
