John Bateman

Bateman is a quality player no doubt and if Manly got him, happy enough...but I will say regardless of where he ends up....I struggle with the fact Canberra gave the bloke a shot and put him on the map and he is talking about bigger contracts, leaving and testing the market the week leading up to a grand final is poor form...will likely end up at Dogs due to money, but these stories show a lack of appreciation and integrity at times....if a Manly player was carrying on like that would be happy to wave goodbye, bad vibe for those other players appreciative of being there.

I think DCE was completely different and in fact, poor management from the Manly heirarchy who mismanaged the situation....DCE never wanted to leave Manly and if the initial contract for DCE was signed off rather than put off, Manly would have paid far less for him...but you still have a good point....on the back of this, DCE fell from grace with a few of the senior players like Snake Stewart, Watmough and Foran to name a few.

Bateman is ok but he comes with that manager. Barge pole stuff
Isaac moses has brought whole teams to their knees before (tigpies)...

Would have to be Jonathon Thurston / Andrew Johns / Tuomololo quality b4 Manly should ever even think of dealing with that rat...

Raiders back-rower John Bateman will undergo another round of shoulder surgery that will sideline the English star indefinitely.

Bateman’s recovery from an off-season shoulder operation took a frustrating turn on Wednesday with specialists advising him that he will have to go under the knife again before returning to the paddock.

No wonder he was desperate to chase the Big deal - could well be injured more than on the field in coming years....

No player should be allowed to be chasing another deal mid contract. Because he played well last year he thinks he is worth more and wants to jump out of his contract. If he had an ordinary year last year would Canberra be allowed to terminate his contract mid term. No way.

Raiders second-rower John Bateman has informed Canberra that he will leave the club at the end of the season with a host of clubs lining up to sign him.

The 26-year-old demanded four releases earlier this year after signing with a new agent, Isaac Moses, prior to last year’s grand final loss.

The 16-time England international has a deal with the Raiders until the end of 2021 and has not played this season due to ongoing problems with his shoulder.
