Joke (Burgess suspension)

Should’ve been double figures easily. The worst thing I’ve seen on a footy field in years. High tackles and spear tackles are bad, but most of the time there is a limited level of intent (if any). This grub deliberately went for Farah’s eyes. Low, low act in any era and grubs like that have no place in the game.
 
Yeah 9 weeks is still a hefty time on the sideline.

But that is convenient timing for a return.

If he played for manly he would have gotten the 10 weeks.

Clubs are up for millions in player payments and the NRL is trying to keep their players on the field.

RLPA would never agree to activate the existing clause in every contract which would enable the Clubs to deduct monies from suspended players 😎

True, but if you made the clubs accountable think of how much cleaner the game would be with a disincentive to hire known grubs for outrageous salaries.

There are not enough NRL level players as it is.
Clubs are held hostage by idiot behaviour on and off the field 😕

Except they are claiming to clamp down on off field behaviour and have sidelined one of the games best forwards on suspicion (as they did with Brett Stewart years ago) for more than a season. I think there are plenty of players capable of playing at an NRL level, the issue is more around contracts and I imagine the watering down of contracts of some of the game's superstar players (who hold significant sway over the RLPA).
A bigger risk to the idea that the game will run out of players is the rise of injuries (also expansion) and besides, Manly has shown how well teams can perform with a significant number of fringe graders in the team.
Edit: To be honest, I'm happy with the suspension but it feels like these sort of acts have been on the rise lately and this incident will blow over soon with the NRL turning a blind eye before we know it.
 
I think 9 is heaps.. they need to stick with this now no one wants to be out for 9 weeks. I doubt we will see anymore eye gouges now. They should suspend the rat moose maguire for the same amount hes the king grub now followed closely with teddy Blair
