Jorge

Snake's Alive!
Tonight was tailor made for Taufua and we really missed his carries. I tend to think that if Barrett wasn't sure about re-signing him, he might be sure now. Those first carries in a set are so crucial to getting a roll on and Wright just doesn't have the power that Jorge has...Uate does, but he doesn't have the motor that Jorge possesses.

Massive loss.

It's all about leg drive and Horhay's got a decent set of tree trunks on him. He would have eaten the metres up tonight.

Definitely going to miss him ,I would say he would be in the top five of our best players this year.

I like Jorge and his ability to gain metres and finish tries is great. You have to weigh up though that he had no clue under the high ball and in the big games he gets exposed time and again. Tough decision coming up for the club.

Again I feel we really missed Jorge's early carries.

It might sound silly, but I actually think David Nofoaluma was a huge reason the Tigers were in the game today. It's not about yards, it's about dominating the first play-the-ball of the set. Nofoaluma consistently won the ruck on his early carries today and the Tigers got a roll on out of their end every time.

Our lack of aggression and line-speed today allowed a number of off-loads that didn't help matters as well, but I think we have struggled to make yards because the first 2-3 carries in our sets are ineffective.

It seems pretty obvious that Wright is physically struggling.
Cant kick ( even in the pre-game warmup ), limped back after every try, etc.

Jorge has it over him with hitups anyway, but whatever injury Wright has is certainly impairing his ability st the moment.

Don't know what Wright's injury is but I suppose Parker gets the gig if he has to miss a game or two.

He is willing and I like his work rate but as you say, he does not have the ability to dominate the ruck on those early carries in the same manner that Taufua can.

Agree we could really have done with Jorge's carts up the field today.

Wright has a groin injury, so tricky to heal without sitting out games, shame

Our two centres were quite today. I also thought that our forwards struggled whenever Kapow was off the field. He is our metre-eater, and while we think we have good bench players they are not in the same class as Marty.
Certainly we are missing Jorge, and also Sirro. Penny has been great in his two matches and I think his combination with Sirro would be ideal. Frankenstein is not setting the world on fire. He missed a tackle which led to a Tigers try, and for his size I don;t think he has much impact.
A win is a win, but we'll have to play a lot better to be a serious premiership threat.

Jorge had never been one for quick play the balls and Wright was awesome today with his hard yards, 200 metres of them. One of our best and scored 2 nice tries. I don't know what more you could of expected of him.

I felt he was really struggling. Wouldnt it be advantagous for Baz to bring up Brad Parker and let Matty Wright get over his injury?

Clearly hampered with the groin injury but gutsy effort all things considered. Not as strong with his carries as Jorge but much better under the high ball and pretty good defender. He is a better player than i thought he was.

wasnt impressed with Wright at all last season but he's going great on the wing at the moment. some of the tries he's scored are fantastic. quick play the balls. can catch a high ball. quick thinking.

Jorge might be struggling to g at back into starting side next year if Wright continues to improve.

lots of positive 'we miss Jorge' posts but I will tell you what I dont miss. dropping 9 of 10 high balls. the laboured slow play the balls and a disinterested look a lot of the time. sure he makes good meters from our end but given Wright can kick goals as well it could be tough for him.

Would not be surprised to see Wright out injured for a couple of weeks.

Better to have him ready to go for the finals and you have Parker waiting.
