Post-Game Discussion Knights V Manly [Round 14, 2025]

I’m not in any tipping comps, but my wife is. When she asked about this game I told her to tip the Knights because I knew we could not string two decent games together.

She was worried I’d steered her wrong at halftime, but I told her a collapse was a given: 16-nil is the worst possible lead for us - just enough to think we’ve already got it won, but easy enough to piss away. As soon as they scored their first try, I knew we were gone.

I'm with you on this RG, 16 - 0 half time....I thought if they score first we're goneskies..

I’m in the ‘injuries cost us and meant we had players exploited out of position’ camp but…

What perplexed me was the field goal attempt from Brooks. There were still 17 seconds on the clock. We should have taken one more hit up and got closer to the posts. Why we kicked from 40m was beyond me. It could have been Daly kicking from 30m and I would back him every day of the week.

Wow,really? How about them having no prop forwards and losing Frizell in the first five minutes? Their middle was ready to be exposed big time but our coach/leaders didn't seem to think that was the way to go. The fact we never play percentage, repeat set footy tells me the players aren't coached to do so. I thought forwards win matches, and they had none.

DCE was appalling.
Coaches should have known Knights would come out on fire after being booed off at half time. It is written in stone.
Why wasn't Croker brought back on when we desperately needed defence?

That’s very true. We can’t absorb momentum shifts and ride them out. We just get swamped and look totally ragged.

And that is a whole team thing, but doesn't help when the guy who is responsible for getting the momentum back is the one throwing it away.

I mean look. I've just dumped 15g on lawyers in the last 2 months. Hit with a bill for 950 a month for not having my kids half the time.

Then come this week and I have 4 of 7 with covid me included. Decided to come to the farm tonight for a long weekend and clear our head.

No one's been here for a few months rats have taken over. Rat **** everywhere.

So covid ridden 3 of us that are here have had to clean, not young martin. Had to get a fire going with no matches and no fire starters because the last SOB that was here well was a bastard.

Got a fire going only to find the good wood I had spent two days bucking and hidden in the back fo the wood shed had been found. So im burning wet bull**** that is as good as burning plastic whilst we shiver and sweat with covid fevers.

Still I manage to cook sometbing for us and wrangle the 3 year old snot dragon into bed with 4 books tonight daddy.

The dog goes ballistic as what i hope is a wombat and not a yowie and I sit my ass down to watch the second half.....and that that is what I got to watch.

Bonus points I have a 6:30am meeting tomorrow where i have to present the thing, it's going to be negative my nuts are cold and ill be spicy coughing all over the joint.

None of that is aa bad as that...expletive

There's no excuses from this team anymore. With two of the most experienced halves against a team that changes it's halves like the weather, we should've won that game comfortably. The lack of game management from these two is embarrassing at times. Imagine we had a coach like Bellamy and this garbage gets dished up especially against the lower teams. Thanks for another frustrating weekend Manly. Can't wait to see what team comes out to play next week.

16-0 up. The only injuries that cost us tonight were between the ears. That and our captain and leader not willing to get into a grind for minutes 41-60. What’s tragic is that when dce attempted that 40/20 I looked to my son and said “we’re gonna lose this”. Also keep the ball in the hands at the back end of the first and we score and go into the sheds 22/24 up!

Probably gassed from lack of match fitness. Simpkins defence wasn’t bad. It was out to our left they were killing us.

I thought Croker was much more effective in defence. He led the line speed and was hitting and sticking. Simpkin certainly wasn’t awful and I agree the left edge was abysmal.

Ben Turbo was shocking in the centre position, and dont blame him being out of position that comes back to the coach identifying our weakness and sorting it out asap but that cost us, both his performance and the coaches lack of ability to coach and that folks is how we lost the game tonight oh and good luck roosters with dce and his lack of leadership.
