So who within the club will have the balls to make the harsh decisions necessary to fix this club? Doesn’t take a genius to realise we need some serious changes, perhaps the club is just too childish or ego driven to admit it?

I’ve tried to back Seibold for as long as I can but tonight and this year is pushing it. I thought 2023 was some solid progression getting us out of the dumps that were late 2022. 2024 was another step forward playing finals. 2025 was meant to be yet another step forward. And it started that way, but we’ve once again gone backwards the year after playing finals. We NEVER play finals one year and then improve on that the next year anymore. It’s not all Seibolds fault, but can’t help but feel like the team are not buying into what he’s doing anymore. DCE said get me out of here ASAP, the rest of the team look like they’re losing interest. The attitude once again was not present in key moments tonight.

These things will not get fixed until someone high up has the guts to make harsh but important changes. But it’s not just getting rid of the guys who aren’t leading us in the right direction, but it’s bringing in guys who will.

I seriously believe this team is, or at least was, so close to doing something big but year after year is wasted potential. We’ve wasted a lot of some special players prime years because the guys running this place make wrong decision after wrong decision. The argument that the players are the reason for this is in part true, but the guys high up are the true reason. Why is it that Melbourne/Penrith can turn the vast majority of their players into stars, while we continue to sign ageing forwards and release youngsters who are now killing it elsewhere? Because they have intelligent people that know what they’re doing and don’t just accept mediocrity if it means more cash.

Maybe this is just that post-loss feeling, but the fact we are getting this so often now is clearly not good. It’s a sad spot to be in. Every year is just the same thing with different people nowadays. This club was once winning premierships every decade, it feels VERY LIKELY the 2020’s will put an end to that very special statistic. The 2010’s barely even kept it alive anyway.

If anyone disagrees, feel free to tell me why because I want to be optimistic about this team, I really do, and I hate seeing so much negativity but I just have to be realistic and being realistic right now in my opinion is admitting that we are so far from achieving anything in our current state.

We go again next week, but my excitement on game day is becoming less and less by the week 🦅

Mick I’m braving the s$&@house commute to that joint from Brissie with my son (member away tix). But after tonight I’m not sure I can bring myself to go.

Ps: where’s the best parking round that place?
There’s really nowhere to park close. Shuttle bus from Mudgeeraba carpark

Good post. My apologies for posting like an erratic unicorn bent on poking a bear. That loss was harder to take than any other because there is no way we should have lost tonight. I was preparing myself to become slightly more optimistic. But alas. Anyway goodnight, and remember Thewestisbest and it's just a damn game.

It’s a very even pretty lame competition compared to eras gone by. It is also a very mediocre team. They have their moments but when it gets a bit tough they don’t like it. Mabe it’s a generational thing. Anyways…how suckful..sigh..

The forwards and bench are ****house , the coach’s resume is simply that of a loser, be it as defence coach, wallaby ass coach or head coach.

It is obvious Siebold does not agree with the move towards faster mobile forwards and believes a hooker is just a decoration. These alone are disqualifying .

But mainly the simple fact is our forwards are awful and old and the captain couldn’t run a choko vine over a ****house wall.
Get rid of him and most of the forwards is the simple answer.
Long hard days ahead

Wow,really? How about them having no prop forwards and losing Frizell in the first five minutes? Their middle was ready to be exposed big time but our coach/leaders didn't seem to think that was the way to go. The fact we never play percentage, repeat set footy tells me the players aren't coached to do so. I thought forwards win matches, and they had none.

Exactly...our forwards aren't the best but they were on top in this game...we still tried to go around them too much.....anyway it'll never change with this coach and this halfbsck..

Anyway....Not long now....

Blame Seibold all you like , There’s a captain out there that’s played for Australia and Queensland that needed to manage that game and couldn’t do it
They could see the weakness out wide were Burbo was and went that way , it got them back in the game
I primarily blame the coach for this loss as 1. Once again failed to select a back on the bench - as Ben T. previously has shown that he now cannot handle playing in the centres any more. and 2. Selecting Waddell who lacks pace and cannot defend laterally (lost count of his missed tackles).

Ever since Barrett entered up until now, this club has never been the same. There's no more hard edge, back against the wall mentality. We had packs that other teams feared us because we'd bash them. There was a never say die attitude and everyone used to hate us. That was the Manly way! I agree with you 100% I too hate seeing and reading the negativity, but it might be time to ring Ciraldo and borrow that big broom of his because the joint needs a good clean out. It'll be great if we can start with the Penn's, but that's highly unlikely.

Jake Trbojevic 4 runs for 37 metres against a team without any middles. Only forward besides his brother (who tragically moved to the centres) that didn’t run for more than 100m.

Is it really worth having someone out there doing nothing but tackling and offering absolutely ****ing zero in attack?

I am going to ask - just how injured was Turbo? Did we keep him in cotton wool because we were playing the Knights? There are no giveme games in the NRL - if he is our best FB he should have been playing. We cannot pay a million a year for someone to sit in the box. Yes perhaps he would have been knocked out like Lehi - but perhaps he wouldn't have

Yeah agree … keeping him in cotton wool has worked so well in the past lol . It’s hsrd to know but doing that fits in well with the complscency that is the hallmark of this mob , as we saw again tonight.

As soon as Vossy and Blocker started praising Waddell big time is probably when I started having the first pangs of doubt.

Hopefully TKO, Ailoi, Saab and of course Tommy are all available for the Titans game on Friday, got to look forward to something.

Just watched the presser - Siebold looked lost and just trotted out his "stay positive" cliches, tepid analysis and excuses. I want him to be ropeable - in the way a Bellamy or a Stuart would be if their team failed to take the chances we did in the first and squandered the lead in the second even with the HIAs. But he's a hired gun - it's not personal only business.

Stopped watching these long ago, just want info on who's coming back and injuries out of the game...that's it.

Newcastle were so bad in that first half, we should have been up an extra try or two and had the game buried. We had far too many missed and ineffective tackles and the halves were yet again outplayed and lacked any mature game management. With the addition of some players laughing and smiling as they walked out for the second half, possibly thinking the game was actually done and buried, the result was not a surprise.

Injuries:

An early blow for Manly in their clash with Newcastle at McDonald Jones Stadium with Lehi Hopoate deemed to have a Category 1 head knock and ruled out inside the first 10 minutes.

Manly's No.1
Hopoate landed heavily on his head as he attempted to ground the ball for a try in the sixth minute and was also sent for a HIA.

With the Sea Eagles having a bye in Round 16,
Hopoate will next be available in Round 17 after going through the NRL concussion protocols.
