Knights vs Raiders Trial

Buhrer had a blinder from the highlights I saw...grabbed a meat pie and all. Trials are trials mate (including ours). They mean literally nothing until it comes to the season proper.

lol my mates a huge raiders supporter.. pointed out the knights played a near full strength team while raiders fielded 9 of their top 17 for 20 mins then their reggies for the remainder, plus none of their starting backline played... so im pretty sure raiders arnt too concerned at all

Id be more worried if I was a Knights fan, they'd have big heads after that score, which is not a good thing (as we know from last year, big heads from reading the papers, and only playing the Ippy Jets in the trial games).

The Knights wont be the easy beats of 2016. They've added a couple of very talented lads including Buhrer and Ponga, and Hodkinson is back to his previous premiership fitness. They're on the move up the ladder as are the Sea Eagles. But this trial only shows they are improving. Against a second grade Canberra side they shouldnt be overly optimistic.

If we, and they, are moving up then which teams move down to replace?

ponga is still with the cows for 2017 isnt he??? tho i get ur point, they will avoid the spoon, not by much, prolly 15-12 sounds about right

They are relying heavily on injury prone guys without great depth. That usually doesn't work out too well.

spose, all it takes is hodkinson to go down and they are f*&ked, esp now mullen is gonskies... i dunno, hayne seems to enjoy collecting spoons, maybe he can will the titans to it and give the knights fans a year off

Not sure, Mark of Brissie, of the order but I can see the Dogs, Bunnies, Broncs, Storm, Sharks sliding. Knights, Warriors, Chooks and Sea Eagles rising and the Panthers, Saints, Titans, Cows, Tigers steady. Uncertain about Raiders and Eels either steady or sliding a little. Raiders could be a standout or a second year flop.

If I were a raiders fan then yes I would be a little cautious to say the least, their attack last year, although good, seemed all over the place. They developed a little bit of structure but I see them trying to replicate the attack too much this year, therefore overdoing it and sliding somewhat down the ladder to fourth or fifth

If we lost, even a trial game by that level of a flogging, I would hate to see the **** written on this site.

Has anybody got the courage to enter the raiders forum and give us an account?

i do think, even for a trial tho, seems a tad disrespectful to the fans to play at home and field a rubbish side like that compared to a near full strength opposition.... altho ide rather that then risk major injury i suppose
If you were a raiders fan and you turned up at Queanbyan today, you would've been hoping for a little bit more than that irrespective that it's a trial.....pride in the jersey and all that stuff.

If we had Jamie Buhrer still we could duck around with api at 9. (Which won't ducking work people) have someone to cover his irrational dummy half runs before the fifth tackle when a crisp pass is needed and also not need to consider what we are paying Aku uate when picking wingers and bring Parker Kelly shuster through with two wrights as back up and the right wright still in twenties.

Im sure it's his background in karate or what ever but I have never seen a more balanced runner than Jamie bhurer. Apart from some injuries and Matt Ballin's perceived (great player for us but if he'd been moved on on a decent contract vsomewhere else once Jamie had eatablished himself in 2011/12) legacy he could have been our greates ever 9.

Hope he kills it at the Knights. I miss him more than Matai Snake and Killer because he could have been as good for us as all of them if not better.
