Laurie Daley

You are 100 % correct and i am teasing here, but what if the next name we are linked too is freddy fitler. You throwing yourself on that grenade as well
Not sure your teasing, but either way I'm fine to answer your hypothetical question...@:smirk:

I personally can't recognise any grenade at this point, so I'll ignore what I don't understand.

Fittler seems like a knockabout bloke and the Manly vibe this year has already seemed very relaxed in attitude, while Daley is far more serious, making his contribution potentially more of what I like personally.

I think we await the Fantasy Fittler link, before we consider taking that leap...

That stuff doesn't bother me.

Its nice for sure but the Manly soul has been gone for some time , getting harder to find

Love to see tooves as defence coach though , with spud maybe . Dont like tooves methods, spud is the complaints dept
Spud struggles to string 3 words together atm and needs to stick to his gym, I like Tooves involved somehow though and for a small bloke, maybe just the best ever pound for pound tackler in the history of the game.

I neither like or dislike Anasta, but at no stage did any of the 4 on the NRL360 panel last night,Anasta,Ritchie,Crawley or Tallis, say it was a conflict of interest.Dean Ritchie, who is very close with Laurie Daley, just mentioned it as a genuine question that some may ask,but never suggested he thought it was a conflict of interest
Mate i’m just saying it’s how I interpret the FOX article. No drama & yes I dislike Anasta….anything Manly becomes an issue for those guys especially when they start questioning why this, why that.

Unless it’s a Manly man , most on here will be unhappy.

Every coach , assistant , specialist MUST have Manly DNA ( is what most on here want ).

I feel he owner has moved away from that.

Through no fault of his own Des was the last until someone like Tom is ready and willing.

The Ballins and Monaghans of the world are pushing it up hill imo.

Spud speaks his mind and is very good in the media, not everyone can be Johnny Carson, but respect where its due, he has earned his stripes in my opinion.

Respect the Spud, does speak his mind and would be ideal to challenge forwards for not having a dig and maybe even as a trainer (which he has done on occasions at his boxing gym)....I just don't feel he is a modern day reader of the game from a coaching perspective and though has great competitiveness, like Des the game has passed him by in the sense of tactical design and that includes defence - need a modern mind to fill this area and that means punting Dymock also

He sure gave it to DCE in the dressing room! Both barrels full blast over his disrespect for Manly & how he completely derailed our season! DCE had no response lol.

Sure and I agree but I feel people like Blocker and Spud and Luke Lewis etc offer different points of view from the Cooper Cronks and Joey Johns' of the world.

Anyhoo onwards and upwards.

Wonder how the whole Daley thing came up. Was it ...

1. Mestrov: Seibs you've got no idea how to coach. I'll get someone in to help

2. Seibs: Tony, I've got no idea how to coach. Can you get me some help?

3. Penn: Tony, Seibs can't goddamn coach. Last time I was back from home there was some bloke who won an Origin game. Daly, I think his name was. Get him!

4. Seibs to self: who can I get to replace me who has an even worse coaching record than I do, and is therefore more likely to accept me as self appointed Head of Football?

Fair point :wait: although I feel the modern game requires much needed new strategies, especially to counter the speed of the game, with the younger updated brains of the game so important....the old school values are sometimes lost, so yep, I get ya Bob and always feel there's a place in the game from Warriors who preach the game on its very first needed attributes - guts, determination and that bit of mongrel - Facts

Not sure what to make of the Daley rejection. The Manly offer or what they wanted him to do,may not have suited his current situation re NSW job/BSB radio slot.Or he didn’t like what he heard coming from Seibold.I assume all that will come out will be that Daley couldn’t commit due to his other interests.Either way,STers will take the path of whatever side of the fence they sit on

I think it was to mentor the players, not Seispoon.

NSW coach Laurie Daley has rejected an opportunity to join Manly’s coaching staff.
Daley said he was keen on working with Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold but the parties have been unable to come to an agreement.

It is understood Daley met with Seibold this week to talk through the potential role. The Sea Eagles wanted Daley to join the club as a sounding board for Seibold but given his commitments to NSW and as co-host of the Big Sports Breakfast, Daley was unable to find the time required to complete the role.

Daley said earlier this week he was keen to pursue the opportunity.

“We spoke about whether I would be interested in that role and I said ‘yes no doubt’,” Daley said on the Big Sports Breakfast.

Daley also said his no.1 priority was coaching NSW and would not do any other job that would interfere with that.

Manly remain on the look-out to add someone to their staff who will compliment Seibold. Although Mick Ennis left the club to join St George Illawarra as an assistant to Shane Flanagan, Daley’s role would have been completely different.
