Disagree. See Knights game. Koula is not a good defensive fullback. Hoppa has the instincts but not size.

The backs are not the problem it’s just moving the deck chairs with positional changes
It’s the forwards where the problems arise too much one out stuff not quick enough around the ruck , not a lot of creativity from the dummy half
Get the domination through the middle then they won’t be loosing field position so often

I agree. However we have very little we can do with the forwards. Seibold seems to think young players like Navale play for another club.

Shifting the dek chairs in the backs is the only short term fix we can look at.

We've had the experiment.....

Turbo can't defend at centre and Lehi can't defend on the try line.

Lehi is also proving iffy at times under the bomb. Not to mention that he's physically a lightweight and still gets manhandled far too much when being tackled. He's only 82kg compared to Turbo's 102.

And before we get the usual "put Koula at fullback" ... yes he's fast but against good defending teams even his pace has been negated. Him being back there today wouldn't have made much, if any difference.

So can we now go back to having Turbo at fullback please??

Certainly one of Seibold’s deficiencies
Navale should be on the bench and even Simione Laiafi should even be given a run
Waddell and Sipley not making a real difference when they come on they do job but the other 2 could do a job as well with an opportunity

Last time he played FB, not long ago when Bith Turbo & Lehi were injured, he made over 300 run meters, numerous post contact meters, numerous tackle busts & numerous line breaks. He was electric!

From what we have seen this year, this might just be who Tom is these days and going forward. Little confidence in his body and the on field output being a shade of his former self.

For those expecting him to get better I'm not sure what that catalyst is going to be?

Lehi hasn't been great the last couple of weeks but Tom was arguably the worst fullback in the comp when he played there in most of the games this year (yes there was one or two games he looked ok but that is a distant memory now)

Everyone can see Tom isn't a centre. Not only does playing him at centre limit his ability to create opportunities in the back line, but he is also not a great one-on-one defender, especially following his shoulder injury.

We only ever look likely in attack when Tom is motivated and injects himself. We need a fit, healthy and motivated Tom at full back if we are ever to match it with the better sides. He looks uncomfortable and unmotivated, especially when we are behind and need him to create something out of nothing; it's not going to happen, as he's often shafted out in the centres.

I also believe Garrick isn't the answer at centre. He is a very capable winger. Great kick return, outstanding under the high ball, and a terrific finisher. Hoppa is also a great winger. He has great post-contact metres, is safe and reliable, and is an excellent finisher.

For me, our best backline is

Like it mate…..I just feel Saab has X factor. Hasn’t been his best year but injury has plagued him & he seems to have lost confidence. A fully fit & confident Saab is worth persevering with! Both he & Tom need a good break & off season to get back to full fitness. I’m not sure who misses out in our backline, however we can’t lose any of Trbo, Saab, Garrick, Koula, Lehi, Talau & all must be in our 17. I’d still like Talau to be given an opportunity as our 13! Good defensively, has good ball playing skills, solid build, mobile. Reckon he’d make a good job of it.
Dependant on what forwards we manage to sign for next season we could have a good pack with experience, grunt & mobility & fully fit!
