[Resurrected] Lol @ Parra

Greenberg can just rehash his speech from 2016 ........"I feel really sorry for the players. This is a really difficult time. They've worked really hard… they've played some great footy.......Greenberg said the Parramatta playing group had handled the news with class and dignity and backed Eels coach Brad Arthur......"I thought they were very respectful," Greenberg continued."I think Brad Arthur has done a wonderful job with that group of men and he's going to need to do a really good job in the coming weeks and months to keep that together. I'm sure he can do that."
Greenberg encouraged all Eels fans to "get in behind your team" during this challenging period.
"If Parramatta win every game under the salary cap I'll be very happy."

It would be interesting to know when the NRL were made aware of these allegations and whether press release was controlled / delayed so as not to derail the slimes season (now a fight to avoid the wooden spoon).

These allegations are quite serious given the level of involvement from the club. Let's see what Toddy has to say.

While we all delight in Eel Woes, I just can't help but simmer at how the Chooks, Storm, and Broncos all sail on completely untouched. Drives me completely nuts.
The Salary Cap is a carefully constructed joke.
I agree. Why else would a player go to Easts when the costs of living are much higher in the eastern suburbs? They aren’t all living out west and commuting each day. If I was a player, I would play for a club that is located in an area that has a low cost of living - the salary cap is the same for all clubs so you can save more at Newcastle, Canberra or Townsville yet two of those clubs have really struggled to attract talent.
In all honesty though, I’ve always thought this to be the easiest way to rort the cap but I would have thought it be wealthy supporters and not the leagues club leasing properties to players at an undervalue...

THE NRL will rally around the Parramatta eels as they strive to restore this once great club to the pinnacle of Rugby League in Australia.

The injustice of having their salary cup rorted twice in as many years must be investigated and finalised as quickly as possible to avoid any damage to the clubs reputation and league standing.

One line of investigation is arrangements where players have been provided with leagues club-owned accommodation for free, with the club declaring it to the NRL at a certain value that forms part of the club’s overall salary cap.

Authorities are believed to be investigating whether some of the properties made available to Eels players as part of their contracts may have been declared at far below market rent to the NRL.

If this allegation were proven, it would artificially reduce the club’s overall salary cap when it should be much higher.

I find this part the most interesting. Sounds like the NRL may have accepted Parra’s rental appraisals of $100-$150/week. NRL asleep at the wheel again?

Bless Parra
No matter how ****ed we are, they just set new lows for us to exceed.
Sad thing is, they are considered the great hope of Western Sydney growth and expenasion if the game, while the NRL is desperate for us to relocate.
Let’s see how Toddy boy sweeps this one under the carpet.
