Luke Brooks - the plate is hot

Question…
Jazz is leaving, [edit: Froggy is busted], Simpkins is here for 2026 but has not been extended and Joey Walsh seems to be going well enough in lower grades to be considered for this weekend…

Any chance our 2026 side could look like…
9. Brooks
7. Walsh
6. Fogarty
14. Simpkins
Fogarty may have played a bit of 6 earlier on somewhere but could only see him in a 7 role for Manly , at least for next season
Could be a case for Walsh in a 6 role sometime soon as he looks to have that more free running style and a reasonably solid built for his age , though long term [ and most likely should include 26 ] again ideally for Manly , as the7 .
Also thought a maybe for Brooks as a 9 in the future but doubt if he would be that keen to transition there and form has noticeably picked up at 6 in recent games

Is there much of a difference between 6 and 7 these days?

Really its just left and right side - obviously if the two players are more complimentary to each other then that's better.

Tend to agree but the 7 generally takes control of organising the attack…
Although I would say that Strange seems to be the organising half at the raiders…

This genuinely amazes me… he has had good games certainly but has not appeared overly influential to me generally…
He is much lower in try assists and line breaks.

Plus Fox sports and the NRL measure their stats slightly differently.

I agree he hasnt been killing it this year but I do think he has been a solid contributor.

Like most things on Silvertails the truth lies in middle of most views ha

Yeah I am not sh*t potting him, I genuinely reckon he puts in 100% every game…

I just reckon he has the tackling technique (can’t believe I am saying that about him given his early years), the running game and the pass delivery to thrive at 9… plus it is a massive advantage to have a dummy half that can kick well…

I think a lot of our attacking stats have painted a picture that we are great with the ball but often it represents that we play **** footy in high scoring games where both teams show decent returns with the ball but it could still account for not much

Crucial stats when the game is in the balance and first try assists etc mean something, scoring 3 late tries once the opposition puts the cue in the rack are pretty meaningless but are held in the same regard

Its a hallmark of the flat track bully

One hesitation I would have is the danger of his lifting style of tackle going wrong playing at 9. Currently his tackles are mainly one on one where he has full control of the tackle, but put Brooks in the middle of the ruck and there would be plenty of assistance from his forwards that could send a good old-fashioned lifting tackle pear-shaped very quickly.
