Manly Attacking Formula ?

Statistics don’t show a correlation between offloads and success. The Tigers are the biggest off loaders in the NRL. The Knights have almost as many as the Bulldogs.

Admittedly Manly are towards the bottom but so are Brisbane (a team entrenched in the 8).
Thing is Tigers "force" offloads, with risky offloads
Needs to be done like Storm or Dogs on the back of good go forward and winning quick play balls to create momentum
Top teams will do this come finals and this along with unstructured individuals like Munster will break games open and decide the outcomes

They've both played 600 games combined. You'd think by now they might figure out where the opposition defensive weakness might be. They both have been clueless the last 3 games. Even the Storm win, we should've scored more points. We had ample possession against the Dogs, Rorters and Raiders and they did nothing with it. Created zilch. 4 tries in 3 games having more than 50% possession is pathetic for a team with the backline names we have.
So that tells me they're following a very rigid gameplan.
Interesting that some say our problems are down to our coach and others blame DCE.
Which one is it?
We hear rumblings of player discontentment with Seibold yet when DCE says he's leaving he's a d!ck. Is he leaving because of the coach?
Which one is it?

To me, the only game that looked like we had a different gameplan was v the Broncos and DCE and Brooks carved them up.
Was the gamelan different or did they take matters into their own hands?

Has n "t seemed to be the necessary amount of decoy running lately either .
Even with Waddell and M C K on the edges , should still have been able to manage some plays to put the Raiders defence in slightly two minds and to break up their easily set defence which was hardly troubled despite Manly having majority possession for the game
Should have allowed a bit more time and space for Turbo to better inject himself as well.
Would not have won the game but with the depleted edges , having Bully more of a threat a bit wider on an edge should have caused the Raiders defensive line more problems and again , improve any subsequent plays then
Really can "t think other then D C E has lost interest big time in playing up to an expected level or in the effort areas so behind the 8 ball even allowing for the key outs right now
Take out Koula and not really presenting any problems again for the Raiders defence in general
Probably a case for Turbo to be on even a bit less then any anticipated reduced contract after 25 and make Koula the highest paid back to keep him in the fold for many seasons to come

The games where Manly have excelled, has been a more energetic effort, winning contacts and quick play balls....especially through the middle.
These magic shifts are a great option, but unless the middle is comprimised, they don't work and if the foundations are laid, they will work plenty, even if the opposition know the plan.....
I recall a deadly Souths left edge a few years ago, where the opposition knew it was coming , but still could not stop the bleeding.....they were super deep and the execution was mint, but that was again based on the timing as they opened up that left edge from playing direct first and winning the ruck momentum, plus had the Cook threat out of dummy half so needed to compress that middle opening up extra space wider......no team regardless of how fast their outside men are, will create opportunities unless compromosing the opposition middle.
DCE and Brooks like other halves, will improve behind a winning pack and better service from the 9, but in all honesty I feel DCE has slipped significantly in most part, since that "announcement" ....approx 4 games into what looked a promising start to the season.
Not sure he is invested 100% or the pressure has taken it's toll, but he is a far better player than whats showing atm, even at his age....and Brooks simply plays a role that he is given which is to play a generic game and try loosen up the players like Turbo and Koula where at Tigers was everywhere trying to do it all himself.....has been ok imo, nothing great but ok and again, if the forwards are losing battles most weeks, the 6 and 7 will not have space and time to control or create and neither are super cool heads or organisers, so when things go South....they look very off their game.

Unfortunately, today’s version of Rugby League bears little resemblance to the game those great players played. Today’s version is a series of formulaic, percentage based patterns that all teams use to greater or lesser effect, depending upon their ability to manage/control ruck speed through what is laughably now called defense ie hold, wrestle and peel away. In short, the greater your ability to strangle the life out of a game, the more successful you will be.
I blame the Referees for allowing foul play.
There are a lot of players that refuse to be tackled and simultaneously want a penalty for not being able to play the ball. Bizarre irony.
If I was a referee, I would penalise the ball carrier for continuosly walking off the mark and not playing the ball when told to by the referee.
The tacklers don't want to release the struggling ball carrier for fear of them running away.
The main problem with Rugby League has always been the refereeing.
Some of us may remember KEITH PAGE.

If they walk off the mark or are "milking" then just make ALL defending players on-side and able to tackle.
Put the onus back on them.

Would be great to watch Harry grant's cheating get nullified

Yes, I remember Keith Page. He certainly didn’t take any crap from players.

The amount of time Storm play the ball off the mark is 100% of the time....fact is they only get pulled up a few times a game....it automatically puts the defence offside and markers out of play....really a Massive advantage, but as stated, the players are trained to get any advantage and its the refs who allow this time and again every week
