Manly Coach 2026 is...

I am all in on this and think he'll be a good coach, even though I hated him playing against us. He'll teach us how to be a grub once again, we need that badly been a while since we had one. Every team needs a grub to get under their skins ruin their game plans get them send off or 2pts will be handy, and he's a master at it.

A true leader of men, played in the toughest position. 2 premierships, twice Dally M Hooker of the year and almost 300games. Just hoping we do need a change can't get any worse than this, he'll bring some mongrel back in us.
We don’t need anymore grubbiness, we already get pinged for things other teams get away with. Like I think it was Jake getting penalised for hand on the ball. Some teams do that every single tackle but get away with it, unfortunately we don’t

High football IQ & 1 of the best on field motivators according to ex team mates, I’m optimistic about this. Will be interesting to see if it can translate. Id guess Matt B or another ex manly player will be assistant to keep everyone happy.

Seibold seems like a smart guy that just isn’t cut out to be a head coach, I wouldn’t mind seeing him in another role around the club.

Listen to what Townsend had to say about Ennis
I was very unsure about Ennis as a potential coach but hearing Townsend's reflections makes me think he will have the right stuff. But he will need very good assistants too.

A lot of the comments on here seem to reflect some pretty off base ideas about what a head coach should do. It's not all tactics and "ideas", it's just as much about leading and motivating people to work together.

Bellamy gets wraps at the storm for keeping things simple. We don't need a tactician, we need someone who the players want to play for. Someone who will help them to stay motivated to bust their arses in the gym and on the field non stop for 10 months out of the year.

Siebold has the brain but he has clearly lost the dressing room.

My only if it’s true, is that we move the assistants on and start with a fresh football department. Dymock and Hales can go.
I think Seibold will survive through to next season, but I would like to see something like this for 2027.
2027
Head of Football Department - Anthony Seibold
Head Coach - Matt Ballin
Assistants - Michael Ennis (Attack), Jake Trbojevic (Defence), Brett Stewart (Attack Consultant),
Steve Murphy (Development).

Mick Ennis. It's done and dusted as soon as our season is finished (Round 27) Seibs will no longer be our coach.

Not sure how I feel about this one.

Ennis is there now, he's untried and never played for the club.

But he is a winner , spent a lot of time playing under hasler, Bennett and flano and comes from a fanatical manly supporting family so he is as close to a manly player without being one.

Interesting times ahead

Not happening

Can only see this happening if Seibold is on board with it
With a lot of recruitment of young players Seibold would have been involved hard to see him moving on may go into a different role similar to what Gould does , He may not be a Gould but can contribute and advise Ennis along the way
Ennis has said he has a lot of respect for Seibold

Well it's about bl##dy time we get away with it, can't always give them 2pts to win the game. Like u said unfortunately we don't, because we don't have any grubs. What you're saying doesn't make sense. So U want to give other teams penalties?

It's been part of the game ever since it all started. All the players do it in a different way, some are just better than others. I wouldn't b surprised if other club teaches the art. Players play to win do anything to win, in the heat of the game they're gonna do anything to win. Now we've a master of the art at it on how to get in to the enemy skins, like his done to us when playing.

You're getting it all wrong, grubbiness comes in many forms. It's not just hand on the balls, many players can do hundreds of way legally. Anyway Madame Kate, over the history of our great club we have many maybe the most of any other club. That might B Y we haven't got the spoon yet.

Here R some of Manly grub legends in my time to name just a few.

Close, Gibbs, Lyons, Matai, Watmough, Roberts, Spuds, Hoppa to name just a few legends.

If true, hopefully he can turn out to be as good as his Manly Premiership & Australian Kangaroos Winning Coach uncle:

Interesting, I would have thought they would have brought back some Manly DNA
DNA alright, Mick and the whole family is a passionate Mighty Manly Warringah Sea Eagles fan. His bedroom was covered with past legends. Why do u think he came back to the club, to b in charge of his favourite team. We might b doing sh#t now maybe because of the other coaching staff, don't forget he's not in charge yet.

The trouble with this is that it believe (and happy to be corrected), that there are only 3 maybe 4 current potential coaching candidates with some type of manly DNA, being:

  • Chad Randall (bulldogs defensive coach)
  • Matt Ballin (broncos and qld assistant)
  • Michael Monoghan (Titans assistant)
  • The Walker Bros (although I think it was mainly the northern Eagles for Ben)

So tbf i think Ennis stacks up against all of the above

I think watmo and Orford are coaching in our system somewhere, but obviously not at first grade assistant level.

Well I guess the Penns will need to pay Seibold his final 2 years of his deal. So to compensate the pay out, Penn's will sign another coach on the cheap. 😝
