Manly Preview

2017 is just around the corner and after some really strong off seasons from key players and strong off season form from the team in general I'm quietly confident we will sneak under the radar and pick up a spot in the back end of the top 8 and at worst anywhere from 9 to 10 providing we stay injury free in key areas. After 2 seasons from hell for most of us and relatively short rebuilding phase we have gained some real talent and wins in the process, such as the rise of the Trbojevic brothers, young talents Kelly, Sironen, Cullen and Hastings. And key players for the future like Walker, Taupau and Fonua-Blake. After the failure of 2015 and 2016, 2017 is looking a whole lot better.

WEAKNESSES
- Team fluency and experience together
- Wingers who have struggled with catching kicks of late
- Experience from players
- Combinations may not be there yet

STRENGTHS
- Spine. Trbojevic, Green, Cherry-Evans and Koroisau
- Halves pairing complement each other nicely
- Backline full of talent, speed and power
- Big forward pack

BEST 17
1- T Trbojevic
2- J Taufua
3- D Walker GK
4- B Kelly
5- A Uate
6- B Green
7- D Cherry-Evans C
8- D Lussick
9- A Koroisau
10- N Myles
11- M Taupau
12- C Sironen
13- J Trbojevic VC

14- J Hastings
15- B Lawrence
16- A Fonua-Blake
17- S Lane

POSSIBLE 17 @ ROUND 26
1- T Trbojevic
2- B Parker
3- D Walker VC
4- B Kelly
5- T Wright
6- B Green
7- D Cherry-Evans C
8- D Lussick
9- A Koroisau/ J Hastings
10- N Myles
11- M Taupau
12- C Sironen
13- J Trbojevic VC

14- C Cullen
15- B Lawrence
16- A Fonua-Blake
17- S Lane

BIG YEAR FOR...

Dylan Walker for me looks the most likely to give us his best. Already in the pre season and back end of 2016 we have seen what he can do. He in my opinion will grab top try scorer also, he looks as though his re found himself and his love for the league.

PRESSURE ON...

Daly Cherry Evans, has been quite beside Green so far but has looked strong just not his best. Green looks more dominant and Cherry Evans needs to have more impact and essentially needs to earn his money and captaincy. Time will tell...

KEY PLAYER...

Tom Trbojevic is key, he is our best player and basically the best in all attacking areas for our team. He has all the ability of a star halfback in a lanky backrowers body. He's the star who can lead a team to finals and he is only 20 years of age. Scary stuff and if you take into account his brother ben is touted to be even better wow.

SURPRISE PACKET...

Cameron Cullen from what I've seen is Greens heir. He's easily become one of my favourite players for us and he hasn't even played a game yet. Absolutely love what he brings to the table and I think he will end up with a spot on the bench.

PREDICTION: 7th

How did I know Api would get plug somewhere in there! #apiloveneverends

I think Hastings or Cullen could be the missing link in the no.9 shirt.
Now don't get me wrong if Api does step up then great but the shortcomings he showed last year from dummy half still leave me unconvinced.

Other than that I think we could have a decent year.

Api plug? Where is it exactly?

Good write up young bloke. Easily superior summarisation than ALL the so called professional journalists that I've read so far. I tip my hat to you.

Walker has just been given his proper position back imo always been great just not made for the halves. Great write up 🙂 Kelly, Cullen, Schuster, Hastings, Wright, to debut some time this year as well can't wait 🙂

He was a crowd favourite up here when he was playing for Burleigh....tough little bugger. A good pre-season, and some no nonsense footy with the grown ups (although he did that in QCup), should have him primed to make his mark.
Good wrap-up @Turbo1 .

Yeah for us to finish 13th I reckon something will have to go horribly wrong.

I just don't see how we can go worse than last yeah.

People keep saying we'll miss snake, Matai and killer.

Snake and matai only played 11/8 respectively and were shadows of there former selves.

Killer is a great leader and that's what we'll miss. I miss him greatly but he's speed wasn't there.

Anyway I'm rambling.

We'll be better next yeah with money to spend as well.

Ahh Turbo, nice to have you back mate. I missed your Yartage; however, I am a little disappointed not to see the classic Turbo 'C', 'VC' and who can forget the 'GK', against three lucky names.

Great Preview, accurate or not. 6th is mine, although as we are going to be pretty unpredictable this season could finish anywhere between 5th-10th IMO. Side looks good, however by round 26 (bar injury) I see some changes as plenty of this squad rides on potential, some will reach it some won't meaning by that late in the season we'd surely see at least a few changes. Possibly Schuster replacing a winger, possibly Winterstein or Hoppa replacing Lane or even Perrett replacing Myles (or at least we'd hope). One thing for sure is that it's going to be a crucial year where we build the foundation for the next era

These other so called journalists are full of bloody ****, 13th my ass!
