Honest question... How would jt go put in this manly team??? A slow, lethargic team that cant seem to keep any intensity for longer than 10 minutes at a time, a hooker that passes over his head/behind his back 90% of the time, a 5/8 that cant win games unless playing in a melb system, and zero attacking structure or set plays to speak of from a clueless coaching staff???

I dare say manly would still be 0-2 and everyone would be whinging about his pay packet

Just came across this from Weidler on the day DCE's mega contract was announced, 6 June 2015. A bit of perspective...

"There are very well-credentialed figures in the NRL who are saying that Cherry-Evans will be the next Australian rugby league captain.

Right now there are angry people north of the border – but they will be soothed when DCE leads a Queensland team to victory down the track.

I had a lengthy discussion with the current Australian skipper Cameron Smith about his successor and he is of the view that DCE has what it takes on and off the field to be that person.

And more important even than that endorsement is the view of Bob Fulton – one of the true heavy hitters in the rep scene.

Fulton is known to hold the same view as Smith. He has told those close to him that DCE has all of the right attributes – as a player his skills are obvious, but his family guy image and ability in front of a camera make him special.

Well something has happened between then and now. He's not within a bulls roar of being picked for Australia let alone being made Captain. And I doubt he'll make the QLD SOO side anytime soon unless there are some injuries.

The thing that struck me most about that article was that he is 28 !! In my mind I keep thinking "he's only young, he'll mature and start to get confidence and start to lead this team - he'll be great once he has a few years experience on top of his natural skill". Well clearly that time is now - how quick did those years go ?
