Match Stats

Was hoping that type of more open footy should have been the norm for a few weeks now , barring that wet condition match against the Roosters
Phins have been largely doing it for most of the season apparently and for good results with a couple of other sides and with a weakened forward lineup , sure it would have benefited Manly more in recent times also
That was hardly a slow Phins side and of course had a few noted quick guys but Manly just out sped and outplayed them as far as the attacking department is concerned
Defence another consideration but hard to please if not impressed with some terrific Manly tries yesterday
Not his best game last week but Turbo was just showing some signs of more free running and certainly came to the fore again yesterday apart from some off his deft selective passing
Koula , Lehi big games , D C E mainly showing the touches that has made him a valuable player on his better days , ' Brooksie more free running and confident
Navale did look good, plenty of good leg drive and game awareness , T K O , Bully and particularly Turbo and Simpkin really contributing well when it mattered
Had a bit of a laugh when Toff Sipley had his little burst , not in a sarcastic way but encouragement as while hardly getting many previous opportunities , does have a bit of early dash and Kotoa their speedy half had to actually gather a bit of stride to run him down
Shame that Ola is out for the season , and with Paseka "s possible availability if Manly could as an outside chance make the play offs
As combined with him , would really boost the forward stocks of course and Manly with the right settings and playing style , still can be one of the better attacking units going around
Defence is another matter and would need Jake back fit and well to try and help in that department
Probably would have been inclined to bring Schoupp on for Waddell as he looked to be getting a bit fatigued in the latter stages but Talau may still be having injury issues
May have a decent shot against the Dragons , Wahs could be a tough assignment , only seen them briefly this season but even with a couple of key outs , look a quick solid and athletic side this year

Glad to get the win and glad that our longest serving player got to celebrate a win. Yes defense wasn't great and nothing more to be said about DCE. We've given ourselves a glimmer of hope so was a good day. No use nitpicking all the negatives and what ifs this year. It is what is and you can only change the future not the past. Go Manly.

Honestly after the year that’s been who gives a **** about the try’s we gave away , we’ve been **** for much of the year so this isn’t any different.

But the try’s we scored were fabulous , our defence was ****, theirs was ****ing horrendous BUT it made for a very entertaining afternoon.

And at this stage of the year , running 10th , to be entertained is at least something.

What if giving away those 3 tries and not defending strong in the last 15 min means the difference in having enough in the tank to win next week. Who knows , clutching at straws, but I'll take anything to give me another week of hope.

Interesting that we seemed to be more carefree and relaxed in our style of play. Basically out of top 8 contention and just went out there to play footy and have some fun.

Hopefully that mindset maintains next weekend and they don’t go into their shells now potentially a top 8 spot is on the line.

We aren’t playing finals , there’s so many things that would have to happen and every single one of them would have to for us to play.

Buckley’s

you can see Tom doesn’t give a **** about DCE

why would he? he’s turned his back on the club
Well....what did happen to Tom yesterday. In the first 10 mins he was running into a gap and kind of deselerated, as he has been doing for some time.
10 mins later and for the rest of the game he was like the old Tom. Running hard into gaps, attracting plenty of attention and offloading to support for tries and even put a shoulder on someone in defence. So what happened all of a sudden and can we count on him for similar next week?

I reckon he saw his Captain actually having a real crack for the first time in a month or more, and decided to follow suit.

Must be pretty deflating breaking your body for the team, whilst others are just floating along going through the motions.

A win's a win and I'm happy (unlike some on here, unbelievable). Great atmosphere at Brookie today and it was so good to see the likes of Koula, Lehi, Turbo, Brooks, etc in full flight again.

Many fans around me were all saying the same thing....where was this in the last 4 weeks.

A little disappointed that only Sips, DCE and Turbo came around, which they usually do after a win. Another observation was strangely the excessive amount of security on the field after the game.

Anyway, our season's still alive (by a thread).
I noticed the extra security at full time and could see two possibilities;
A) they were deluded and thought thousands might scale the fences and mob DCE to congratulate him on the milestone.

or

B) they’ve been reading ST and thought thousands might scale the fences, attack DCE and hang him from the BF stand rafters.
