Game Day: Manly v Roosters [Round 5, 2017]

In my opinion Lanky Lane wasn't lousy, just lacking, looked laconic, lazy, lacklustre and lethargic .... certainly didn't play like someone with their hand up screaming "coach pick me, pick me".

Lane had 2 choices on Saturday. Either revert to his lazy self or rip in and show Barrett that he shouldn't have been dropped. From all reports he chose the lazy part. While he's a big boy and has potential, that alone showed why Des cut him from the Dogs. He needs to cut out being lazy.

Even when Lussick returns there's still potentially one bench spot up for grabs.

I'm certainly not criticising anyone's performance but I still see Brown, Hastings, Perrett and Lane all having that opportunity if they want it badly enough.

Yeah, I watched quite a bit the reggies game expecting him to rip in, especially as it was a battle of the losers, but to no avail.
Even in his pre match interview he pretty much said how difficult it is coming back from the top squad as they hadn't trained much together, he was more or less setting up any excuses they had then and there.
I get that it would be a let down from being in the top 17 and the high of beating the Cowboys to playing with part-timers from Blacktown but surely that would give you reason to fire up.
One of his defensive reads for one of the Bulldogs tries was particularly poor when you consider what Sirro and Frank have been doing in 1st Grade.
His body language after it wasn't one of a player that realised the game may have been gone right there.

I hear that Brad Fittler has said that Manly scored 5 tries from 5 fluke kicks on Saturday to beat a very flat Bulldogs side.

First of all, only 3 of our tries came from kicks. Sirro, Tommy and Api's tries had no kicking involved.

Second....shock horror Fittler trying to talk down Manly's form in the week we play his Chooks.

I hope we do to him what DCE has done to Tallis.....make him look stupid.

He already makes himself look stupid every time he opens his mouth.

what would he know .... I mean he wasn't the greatest coach when he was at the chooks @

Massive game. Only round 5 I know but will certainly shape our season. Time for the eagle to soar. The belief is there now, skills, comraderie - they're playing for each other - gota say Barrett has won me over too. Things are about to click, I can feel it. I BELIEVE 🙂Totally still sooking about Toovey but anyway .. exciting times ahead. Love this great club. Go Manly!!

Looks like it will be a heavy track Friday night - a real dog fight between the forwards and the kickers

Des cut players like Kappow, Finucane, Lane and kept the lazy TRex for years and there was no more lazier than TREX

The remnants of Cyclone Debbie has forced the closure of all schools in Qld.
This arvo the border towns will be deluged.

It's already raining in Sydney and will increase in intensity by tonight.:cloud:

So Friday should be a boggy game in driving rain.

Manly 28-2
