Manly v Rorters - Round 19, 2018 Pre-Game

Few quick observations from the Captain’s Run, Jorge wasn’t there so I don’t believe he’ll be a late inclusion. Also Shaun Lane was training away from the group with some medical staff, looked to be moving pretty freely though so I’d imagine he’ll take his place tomorrow.

The boys were very vocal in particular Joel Thompson who seems to be taking on a real leadership role at the club.

Jorge T is playing reserves
Man he must have had a falling out with someone because you pick him everyday over brad parker
Jorge T is playing reserves and we have Matt Wright on the wing . Must be another master stroke by the coaching staff .

Wright had a good game last week. In fact he is solid every week. Not a game breaker, but solid and capable of scoring points.
I did not think he had a good game last week at all let alone being solid . The only contribution he made was when He left his wing , missed his man and the opposition scored . But if you call that performance solid then thats your call .
Just my opinion mate but I think jorge is a better player, stronger ball carrier , and more of a line and game breaker than the more predictable and slow Wright .
When i watch Matt Wright take the ball up and run it looks like i am watching a slow motion replay .
I Love the way that Jorge powerfully runs the ball out from our goal line . Jorge is a ten pin bowling ball close to the line as well . That is another stronger point that he has over Matt Wright .
I agree Matt Wright is no game breaker and we have players like young Anderson with speed to burn and players like Jono Wright are preferred ahead of them in our 30 man squad .. Jono Wright is another that is solid slow and safe and that is how Trent likes them .
How I evaluate the quality of a player is by looking at the teams above us and ask my self , how many teams would this player be good enough to start in ? because they are the teams we have to play against and win . Solid is not my bench mark .

Is this Horhay’s first game back??

Maybe a game in reserves was the best option!!

I know he’s been named in the 21 the last few weeks but don’t think he’s played until today, correct me if I’m wrong?

OK then.

I would like to see TB trust TomW with more ball, use Cherry as a 2nd or 3rd reciever and trust our backs with early ball instead of Trents idea the forwards can do it all.

Do I think we can win ? Not unless we see our backs get a fair go.
When did we last run decoys ?

Correct mate, first game back. No one on here is across his recovery from the injury he picked up, or has any other real information around how he’s come back.

It’s fair to say when fully fit he will likely back in first grade, and with that in mind there would be reasoning behind him not playing tomorrow. So I’m happy for the coaching staff to make that call.

Thanks, and EXACTLY the reason I asked!!

As usual with Barrett, we are left totally confused with his selection policy (eg Taufua). Are we that wrong. Seems the supporters suggest selections that seem logical but Barrett has his own mind...a mind set to consistently lose.

You don’t think after this long out maybe Jorge needed a run in reserves first??

Spot on.

Focus the attacking play on a bloke playing his second game in the halves, rather than an Origin and a
Aust rep half.

Barrett picks Wright (which many have been calling for for weeks).

Now they have it, lets let the bloke run the team after 2 games.

The hits just keep on coming.

After watching the Tigers beat the Rabbitohs it just validates the point that every player
Counts.
While its true that players should back themselves in scoring situations I'm more for the players that are aware of players backing up, off loading or deft kicks.
A good example is Ponga blowing a opportunity during late stages of 3rd SOO.
A little deft early kick and Slater would have scored, instead he backed himself.
You gotta ask, "is backing yourself ego driven"?....if every player can reconcile the subtle differences
they are well on the way to becoming a team player

I'm afraid the Turbro's and Dce don't instil confidence in winning like the inclusion of Walkz does. :eyes:

Have you ever seen Michael Jennings pass the ball?
No wonder Doesn'tmatta are trying to offload him.
If any club recruits Jennings they are totally daft.
