Saab - why????? Offers nothing unless someone puts him in the clear.

Talau on wing. Navale on bench.

Surely
I'd prefer Clayton over Saab .... but Tommy Talau as a bench back or second rower I'm ok with

Pleasantly surprised to see we're sticking with Jazz and Simpkin at hooker.
Lachlan Croker's return from concussion has been pushed back to Round 20.

(Don't forget that Round 19 is a Bye Round for us, so his return probably would have been Round 19 if it wasn't the Bye Round).

I like Talau as a player but surprised that Navale is not on the bench to replace Brown. I'd have thought it was the perfect time to bring him in. Can only assume he hasn't come up to expectations?

Just looking through the team sheets on the NRL site, gee Moale looks more like Tolu than Tolu, weird, then I saw this photo of Ben and thought that’s even weirder, like there’s something about Ben……..

Of the players we have available I think that team is as good as Siebs can pick. Jazz will act as an extra middle when Simpkin comes on 30mins in. Talau good coverage in the backs and I reckon maybe even cover second row! He’s also not small. Then Toff and Bully. Actually really like the list.

MCK 18 man is a little interesting.
He's been playing centre in ressies of late.
One of the back rowers must be in doubt I guess.

With Manly down 3 props (Paseka, Aloiai and Brown) ... wouldn't you think it would make sense to move Jake Trbojevic to the front row, play Jazz at lock and play Simpkin at dummy half??

MCK is also named to captain ressies. We are getting pretty thin on talent 😏

Hence why the first choice to replace Haumole ... is Corey Waddell.

We're down on front rowers, thin on the ground for back rowers and we have a coach who thinks its better to waste a middle forward in that situation as the first choice dummy half than using the actual dummy halves we do have in the squad 🤷‍♂️ :lipssealed:

The Football department must see more upside in Waddell than Chee Kam.

I know we wax lyrical about , why isn’t he getting a run , or , why isn’t he being played there rather than here but the one thing we all have to remember is that there’s a Football Department , not just the coach ( who still may get the final decision but there’s a lot of input from the others ).

So in my opinion any decision on selections is probably a group decision rather than just Seibold choosing favourites etc.

We used to bag Des something chronic back in the day but I remember Dennis Moore ( his assistant ) coming to one of our pre WCC games functions in Leeds and he was happy to answer questions from the group and his answer was just that.

He said , the bulk of the team pick themselves ( if fit ) but we look and discuss particularly the bench for each game depending on who we are playing.

He told us it was a sit around the table , with the specialist coaches , the reserves coach , the head trainer , he and of course Des.

So it’s always the coach who gets blamed but it’s a team decision I believe.
