Manly's future direction

The Who

Journey Man
The association with the Workers seems to be a productive one. It also, from a marketing perspective, is very smart. We've all seen how companies merge then go through the process of name, brand and logo evolution. BHP is a recent example. Remember, for a while it was BHP-Billiton and now the Billiton name has been dropped.
Looking at the cap in this photo shows how easily Manly Warringah can embrace Blacktown Workers and become Manly Workers then, in time, it reverts to simply MW, encapsulating both entities seamlessly. Of course, this cap/logo will need to become maroon and white. I like this MW logo and envisage a time when it becomes used for all Manly and Blacktown-related activities. It would be great if MW generated a new group of supporters from that western part of Sydney. And the way this Government thinks, it would be easier getting a purpose-built stadium at Blacktown constructed than refurbishing Brookie Oval. Go west, young man: it could be our future. Mind you, as someone who lives on the northern beaches I'm not looking forward to the trip.

Certainly has excellent potential, we'll probably have to see if it survives for a few years before counting too much on it.
Besides which, I agree with you that each post in this thread should include a picture of a mystery bearded redhead.

No, Northern Beaches need a side, and we are too important to move. Not a good idea imo

I think you are missing the point of the thread. It's about Manly Warringah embracing Manly Workers under the all-embracing 'banner' MW. The logo is already there. The hope would be that some people from the Blacktown area would start to support MW, thus increasing our crowds. Blacktown juniors would grow up wanting to play for MW. MW may play a couple of first grade matches at Blacktown (provided there is adequate ground facilities) instead of taking matches to Gosford, Perth or Suncorp. Certainly, we could train there occasionally and start visiting schools, not just those on the Northern Beaches.
We've all seen how keen this Government, and the NRL, is bending over backwards to foster growth in Sydney's west. They have wiped the Northern Beaches. There has been speculation that we will be forced from Brookie and have to relocate or fold. Thus, this thread was just a thought starter how Northern Beaches and Blacktown could expand the MW brand and remain competitive long-term in the NRL.

I suggested at some point last year that Dan might consider a sub forum on here for Blacktown supporters (also we silvertails have developed an interest in how they go)

..... but then ...... given how some of us denigrate the wonderful city of Blacktown ... maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to invite their supporters to visit Silvertails .....

Would certainly add to the rich tapestry of members and give me new and interesting people to argue with and call numbnuts ....

Manly has all of the north side of Sydney region to itself. Everything north of the Parramatta River all the way out to Cherybrook, north to Hawkesbury and back to North Sydney and the harbour.

The same side of Sydney on the south has Easts, Souths, Dogs, Dragons, Sharks, Sydney Fc, Swans, Giants and Waratahs and two Big Bash teams.

If the Sea Eagles can't mine that area for sponsors and fans they should just give up and die. It's bigger in corporate money than Brisbane probably.

Just got my reserved seat - Bay D in the Jane Try Stand (Right on halfway) , but at the front (so no tall fools getting in the way of this midget !!!). Puuuuumped for the season bitches ! Only cost $455 as well for every Brooky game plus all the other stuff.

So what is the purpose of the relationship with Blacktown Workers..there must be a long term plan envisaged. I know that there are territorial boundaries to consider etc but we shouldn't be limited to that mentality.. I have family in Roosters territory that are Manly fans. I have a mate who lives behind brookvale and is a Parra fan. I curse him every day. So the idea of broadening our net for supporters / partnerships is a good one imo. At the same time we should never ignore our historical fan base
