With Matai making such an impact, and "standing up to be noticed" do any of you think, that with Hill coming back, a centre pairing of Hill / Matai is too preliminary, and Steppa back to PL is harsh?

Yes. Matai did some good things but both the young centres have lots to learn about drawing and passing to a winger. (Look at Hill's pass to Hoppa for a try against the Warriors) Matai hit up well and defended okay. He was run down from behind when in the clear by the Melbourne 5.

It may sound harsh but I am still not convinced about Stepho's defence. BK1 had to clean up after a clean break or two against him twice on Sunday. Bell also gave him the slip a few times.

We need centres that can do more than hit up!

I am glad we didn't get Joel Monaghan though - pity about Jamie Lyon!!!

he only missed that tackle. Other than that i thought Stepho was solid and heaps improved. He made something like 21 hit ups and over 100 metres. that is awesome fora centre. They both did really well. Id say Stepho would still have the upperhand on him at this point in time.
