NRL squad doing field work and U20s working hard as well

The training paddock looks magnificent. Better than Brookie looked yesterday when I had a look around. There were workmen on the field digging up sections. Wish I'd taken a photo.
My theory is the workers were from the NRL looking for hidden salary cap cash. Either that or they were restoring areas of the field where Matai had left indentations in previous seasons.
There were painters touching up sections of the stands, but the main entrance to the ground looked like it hadn't seen a lick of paint for years. No sponsorship signs are up yet.
She may be ageing, but I'll always reckon Brookie is a good sort.

Thoughts from the session;

  • Turbo spent some time at right centre
  • Des still likes it low key
  • Beaver was there having a look
  • Corey Waddel is a big unit
  • Elegy spent most of the time in halves
  • Brendan Elliot has spent a lot of time running at fullback with Tom, today was the first day he had a run as centre
  • Funa looked sharp and fit on wing
  • DCE is a champ with the kids
  • Anderson had a good run on wing
  • Jack looked pretty damn fit
  • Interesting to watch - drones constantly flying over the game, Monas, Hoss, Des always guiding and giving tips on angle, positional play etc
  • API, Jorge didn’t get onto field they were having a run on the other field in a small group
A terrific event put on by the club for their members

Turbo is a kangaroo quality centre. Its interesting to see if Des will give Turbo a run at 3 or 4.

Great summary! No sighting of Brett Stewart?

To add to @The Wheel's thoughts:
* Training facilities looked excellent. Beats me why they need to spend money on a 'Centre of Excellence' when its excellent anyway, whilst poor Brookie is deteriorating!
* It was wonderful seeing Des on the paddock coaching them @:D - along with Donny, Matt and Chad!
* Monas looked super fit and ran with the players like he could easily be part of the team.
* Agree, Funa did look sharp and fit, as did Jetski and Turbo.
* Sirro looked fit, fully recovered and ready for 2019.
* Brendan Elliot came up and introduced himself - nice guy and very happy to be at Manly. Said pre-season training is tough and that today's opposed session was 'light' compared to normal.
* Also spoke to Hodko who looks good and he's happy to be back with Des.
A most enjoyable members' evening put on by the club.

Love the Des Drone aspect.

Imagine the video sessions showing the players how their defensive line breaks down.

Should help them fix their lapses ASAP
In all seriousness I'm sure that's exactly what the drone was for, amongst other things. Knowing Des....using technology to cover all bases.

The drone hovering over us was like Big Brother watching us, watching the players :tmi:

If Manly don't win the comp in 2019, I'll be miffed with Des :giggle:

A few of us who are close to it have said in the past there is nothing wrong with the actual facilities at Narrabeen. Maybe the offices are in demountables but what they have for training is top notch. If you look at Penriths new centre of excellence it’s better than that. The only downside is occasional flooding because of the proximity to the lagoon. Other than that it’s great a lot of the upkeep is on the government. So why need to waste money on cramming that in to Brookvale is beyond me.

My gut feel is the COE will be mainly administrative office plus a bit of other stuff like gym, etc. it will be available for the school plus maybe this new partner they announced this week. The rest will be the new northern stand.

The club will still have a strong presence at Narrabeen

Des would be better off flying drones over all the other clubs’ training. He probably already is but don’t tell anyone.
