Munster to the Rorters

This is all just sour grapes. The Roosters manage their cap better than any other side in the comp, and then everyone whines.

It's quite simple. They sign a rep player from another side, at the peak of their skills, for about $400,000 a season for 3 years.

One or two years later they release that player, freeing up $900,000 a year of cap space, and sign a further 2 rep players. So they are freeing up cap space all the time. It's pretty simple really.

Yep Cronk and Tedesco were up and comers at 1 million a season....add Creighton to that next season and that rookie SBW will be on minimum wages too....lets not forget young Brett Morris and English International Hall who is 30 years young....it all makes sense now

Seriously, the Roosters have released Pearce recently, now Fergo for next year, they also have lost Brett Papworth, Kevin Hastings, Dally Messenger, and Olsen Fukin Filipania.

They are due a break, and have made a shtload of room in the cap.

You are missing the most important one - Jackson Hastings. NB I dont recall Olsen playing for the rorters - could be wrong though (unlikely as it seems)

Lol.
I could be wrong, which is a distinct possibility, though I'm sure he played for the Tigers and Roosters.

Please tell me this is a joke. Not denying they are cap compliant in terms of the current rules, but they also have a TPA cap in the millions which gives them a huge advantage.

This allows them to have the players on the lowest market value registered and then pay overs in TPAs.

Add to the fact that Politis has alot of friends in the right places at NRL HQ, and Schubert, also at the chooks, is the former chief salary cap auditor.

You publish player salaries plus TPAs and you will see how much more money the roosters have.

We don't whinge about the salary cap, we are unhappy that the NRL turns a blind eye to 3 or 4 clubs who have endless TPAs while they witch hunt Manly who dont. They know its broken, but wont dare touch roosters, donkeys or souffs. The disparity is becoming larger, and the NRL will hurt because of it.

When their recruitment spree ends we can expect an amendment to the TPA rules to be applied in the future. It’s probably the reason they are delaying Manlys appeal results - to let them sneak a few more superstars in first.

Noseajiklian has her issues, but surely you’re not advocating for a return of Labor in NSW under Fluke Flogley?

I'm far from a Foley fan. Met him in my home suburb. He smiled nicely, agreed with my complaints, and then I could tell he just forgot I was there. The present premier has shown initiative, I'll give her that. She's still an unknown quality, but she inherited a mess from Baird and was sensible enough to over turn many of his foolish initiatives. She's still left with much of that mess. She's trying regarding housing issues, she's got a mess with the light rail issue. I'll give her a 'B' for now but its early days.

My criticism was of News Ltd and their over selling of favourites. I was watching their responses to anything towards the left. Abbot was always better than Turnbull, but Turnbull was better than Shorten and then Albanese is wonderful compared to Clover Moore. And of course the Greens are just septic. That's not balanced reporting. That's one sided politics being thrown at us in a Goebbels like style.

The problem with TPAs is that there is no limit to the amount a TPA can offer. Its already reported that Melbourne has TPAs well over the million mark. How they got them is all to do with how you play the game of inviting a sponsor to contribute. Hitting Manly over a technicality while allowing unlimited TPAs to the wealthier clubs is obscene. There is no equitability, so there cannot be a fair competition. The NRL Know this but the powerful clubs obviously put pressure on to retain the system as it is to their benefit. Consequently the NRL turns a blind eye to this disgraceful arrangement, but nit-picks at the less affluent clubs who are just trying to get by. Definitely some clubs are more equal than others and Greenberg knows , and weakly bows under the pressure of richer bodies. He's a disgrace.

I love how people lose their sh*t when the likes of Rothfield come out with a rumour about Manly and say he’s talking BS,but when he comes out with the rumour about Munster/Roosters,they believe him and start whinging about the salary cap.Lets be a bit smarter people,Munster is going nowhere

Yep think . Its not what u know. But who you know. Think the roosters planned to have cronk retire this year. Freeing up 1 mill cap space like magic. Lets pray the rorting pricks dont win the grandfinal. A fully fit rabbits or storm ( spew). Will be thier only problems.

Exactly. The nrl says they love and need all this extra cash coming into the game. So why the hell they nit pick on small things manly and other poor clubs do **** me to tears. How else can we compete with mega one city teams ffs.

I can’t see Munster going anywhere either.

He’ll be one of the new big guns of Melbourne and they’ll look after him financially.

One thing I really hate about Greenturd is him turning a blind eye to the richer clubs with their 3rd party deals.

I remember when he got the NRL job (when I nearly vomited ) he actually made sense in an interview where he said that 80% of the games 3rd party deals were spread over 4 teams and how wrong that was. I thought great, he’s going to rein in those teams rooting the system.

Once he got in and spoke to those 4 teams managements, he suddenly changed his mind and it seems as though there are more 3rd party deals than ever before.

I wonder how close Greenturd has become to these money men? @

So you don’t think by the time Munsters contract is up for renewal that the Storm won’t have similar cash to throw at him?Slater gone,Smith could be the same and the young players to take their spots won’t command half the pay packet Smith and Slater are payed

Slater was reported to only cost their cap 500k, i'm sure Smith would be somewhere around the same. Munster will be more than 500k at renewal. Guess he will only cost the Storm 300k though.

Level playing field.

Not a huge fan of News Ltd either. Sadly though Fairfax is going down the gurgler at the rate of knots. At least the American newspaper still has a raft of serious commentators like Paul Kennedy and Peter van Onselen, mixed among the hard(ish)-right dickheads like Chris Kenny.

Peter Hartcher is pretty much a one man band over at the SMH.
