Tony Iro was onside! Robbed!

This is the sort of old tv panel show material that should be on Fox League over summer instead of endless replays of the same games.

1984. Never thought Alan Thompson and Des Hasler played in same era. Also Phil Blake, John Harvey and Tony Melrose. How quick was Kerry Boustead -wow!

Thinking Thompson could have played a few more years cliffy style

Great player. I only saw him from late 1970s on. Thompson in 1989 was the unluckiest Manly coach ever. The first three months of the season seemed to always be wet, which back then meant Manly were sure to lose. Plus I've never seen so many games Manly lost by just a handful of points, all of which included some horrendous referee calls against Manly for non existent forward passes. Then by mid season all the losses saw the pressure implode the club.

Exactly how I remember it. Brookvale was a total bog, so many wet games. Just killed Manly's season.

My two observations from that Manly V Doesn'tmatta clip:
1. That Manly side would have lapped our 2018 side by 50 points
2. It's remarkable that a single referee could get so many tight decisions right when these days a whole host of officials on the field and off get so many decisions wrong.
