79 wasn't one of our greatest years nor was 80.
I actually compare them to our last 3 years.
And we came out of it on the right side like we will this time.
Just watching that I reckon the saints try where the bloke juggles the ball would be pulled up today.
A lot was let go to allow the continuity of the game to flow.
And look at the crowd.
The only blight was scrums .
Give me that footy any day...

Missed that game to go for a surf at Whale Beach instead.

I remember Zorba predicting Manly would win against Saints, but only if Eadie played.

He was probably right, but we’ll never know for certain, pending the development of a Maroon & White rugby league time machine - to right the wrongs of the past.

Footnote: I am pretty certain that was Lindsay ‘Duck’ Drake’s last ever first grade game.

I was at that game, for an hour Manly dominated the competition leaders and eventual premiers and were overwhelmed by a great team. Our team was suffering a premiership hangover and they never got going that season. Magical memories all the same!

When was the last time they were hanging from the rafters and clogging up the stairs to the grandstands. Would've been Parra or Tigers in the 80s I reckon.
