I just don't understand this at all.  Surely the club would monitor and give their players free legitimate stuff, fully approved, to increase muscle and all that other stuff.  Don't they have strength and conditioning coaches?  Were the goods in question given to him by the Club?  If this guy then goes off and buys out of the back of someone's car boot other illegal goods, then he should be rubbed out for being plain stupid.

Sounds like it also decreases brain function as well.  Matua does sniff crack.  Big willie's.

Apparently the drug, Clenbuterol, is used worldwide for the treatment of allergic respiratory disease in horses.

Backrower Reni Maitua was stood down by the NRL on Wednesday for testing positive to the banned substance Clenbuterol, following a routine Australian Sports Drug Agency test three weeks ago.

Clenbuterol is an anabolic agent used to improve muscle mass and reduce body fat.

The NRL imposed a provisional suspension, pending the results of tests on Maitua's B sample.

Maitua has exercised his right to have his second sample tested which will return a result in seven days, Zappia told reporters in Sydney.

Until then, he is under provisional suspension by the NRL and has been stood down from all club commitments.
