Webcke retires from rep scene
Monday April 04, 2005

Broncos’ hard man Shane Webcke today announced that he will be stepping down from representative rugby league, effective immediately.

The veteran of 215* matches for the Broncos, 18 Tests for Australia and 21 State of Origin appearances for Queensland, Webcke has finally surrendered to a chronic knee injury. The man rated the No.1 prop in the game for the past five seasons, has made what he describes as the “inevitable decision.

More importantly what is Ben kennedy doing, has he retired or not?

Actually I was thinking on the weekend Qld is looking good at this stage. Most NSW regulars are struggling eg Bulldogs, Rooster and Dragon players.

This will hurt the toads though he was the backbone of their pack.

Bk is neither here nor there.

Webke always went hard in origon - good for him to call it on his own terms. Had to respect the guy
