Satini looks a star in the making. Hes the only one thats impressed me this tournament.

Agreed that Satini looked good - at least he showed some effort in attack and defence, which is more than can be said for most. I also liked the look of Hasson and Jesse Sene-Lefao. They showed some heart, too.

I think they threw this.

100K in the bank and they only get 20K more for winning.

Hardly worth the effort and risk of injury. They can get an early plane and be home for dinner time.

NYEagle

$370k for winning, $20k for winning the Semi - no pride in the Manly Jumper :dodgy:

Yes I know, disappointing in that respect. They have a brand to defend.

On to the NRL season.

you are spot on with Satini,I am still shocked penrith let him go,I saw him come through the ranks when he was at the riff, the kids a talent, but they dont throw much cash at there juniors,Michael Stig thats in our u20,s came from the riff,he is a good young player, but they wanted him to stay there for next to nothing, their loss our gain

There is one good thing that I did like about this Nines tournament and that is that there was only one referee on the field and who had to make the on the spot decisions even if some of those decisions weren't correct. Even not having the video ref was good too. It was more like old school rugby league :)

I totally agree. I just wish that the NRL would go back to the International Rules of one on-field referee and if they are to use the video referee, they should adopt what they had to do in the World Cup where the video ref had a voice and had to explain in real time what they were looking for and explain their decisions.

So the only team we beat will probably win this thing and only won 1 pool game. FFS

9's is a lottery. We got off to a poor start, made a few errors, game over.
The teams who started well yesterday had run out of ideas by today, and vice versa.

I won't lose sleep over that. One more losing trial, and then never fear, we'll be ready to rumble.

It was a fun couple of days, not much to complain about really. Saw Soward out last night, he was absolutely rinsed !! Brisbane and Penrith guys were at the Casino well into the early hours of the morning

@"Kiwi Eagle" were you at the ground? Watching on TV the crowd looked fantastic, it must have been a huge boost for the game in NZ especially and as you say, looked like a lot of fun. No long boring gaps between matches, non-stop action.

I was pleased the Warriors didn't take it out purely because it could have given them some serious momentum for the premiership, with great home ground support. :exclamation: But I have to admit it would be good for the game to see them do well again.

Yeah went up there for both days, was an outstanding weekend, well organized and put together and it flowed beautifully for both days

The players there would have loved it, all teams got a good reception. Paul Gallen wouldn't have heard a roar for him for a long time like he got when he ran out to warmup on day 1. Willie Mason is a love to hate character here as well but he was interacting with the crowd while warming up and all enjoyed that

Saw every club there as well. Manly, Parra, Dogs and Storm were extremely well represented crowd wise
