No premiership since 2011? That's on DCE.

We have been searching for consistency for 13yrs now..3 coaches many different players and we still can’t find it…in my opinion the 1 person who has been consistent in making us inconsistent is penn and while he allows average players coaches and staff into the club nothing will change

I'll agree with that. Since about 2014 there has been recruitment, salary cap, coaching and general administrative issues that have left me rather bemused. I've no issue about trying new things, but it seemed to me the same errors were being made over and again, almost as if the club wasn't interested enough to establish a stable, common sense plan of action. I think there was complacency that set in after the golden years of 2007-14. You never saw that with the Storm. They are constantly renewing, preparing wisely for not just today but also the next few years. It was like the Sea Eagles forgot the basics. Hopefully the lesson has been learnt because they have the basics of a competitive team this year and a few promising prospects on the rise. Hopefully it will be handled Storm like, not Sea Eagle like 2015-22.

Turbo had already tried to take a pay cut so other team mates could be retained ( and that was only squashed by the NRL) and I would find it hard to even think Jake wouldn't do the same.
These are what team mates and club first players are all about.
And they are the type of players needed to win premierships.
It's not a matter of Jurbo taking a pay cut, it's a case of a player finding his true value as they get older.
Jake at 32 can't expect to be paid the same for a new deal as what he was when he was 27, I'm sure he would like to be but reality has to set in, in addition to the fact that he plays in a position where the supply is a lot more than a halfback

Meh, manly have had 0 wooden spoons since 2011 too, and that's also on dce...
Especially the 2016-2019 seasons when the team was scraping the bottom of the barrel, and the only thing that kept us off last place was a handful of wins off the back of dce busting his guts by himself with Tom injured constantly..

BUT, the argument that all the top halves are on over a million and our offer is embarrassing is way off the mark imo... No other half in the comp was born in the 80s, (no other player in the entire nrl was born in the 80s for that matter), no other half is pushing 40 years old... Paying over a million for a soon to be 37 year is old is absolutely nuts, and Ide rather see him leave and focus on the future than to pay him that kind of coin at his age...

Its all to do with the market. Whether he's worth it or not from our perspective is irrelevant. Do you think the offer suspected as having been made by Sydney City would not be close to a million a year. If a club sees DCE as that one piece of the puzzle that they need, they will pay through the nose.

I agree with that, and manly obviously don't see him as that puzzle piece for our club.. so off he goes... Hopefully he doesn't get booed this weekend, the bloke deserves to leave a club legend and I hope he gets as much money as he can
