Drug possession, taking dodgy cash, socialising with gangsters and cocaine users and sexual shenanigans with his mates on film.

Seems like a total douche bag that thinks he's king ****.
Needs a big fine and suspension to bring him back down to earth i think.
The move down to Sydney worked out great for him.

Question. Were any of the drugs he pleaded quilty to possession of, on the NRL banned list?

Is possession in sport circles a crime or do you need to test positive to taking them to get banned?

This is just another example of parra & their players getting slapped with a wet feather. Because the nrl are not laying down the law there is no real deterrent. The nrl should have come down hard on parra, that way the line is drawn in the sand and everyone is in a position to re-group and start to move forward. It is currently such a balls up it is way beyond a joke and shows no signs of stopping any time soon. The nrl's joke of an excuse that they need a show of strength out west and therefore condoning anything parra and their players do is back firing big time. I am sure it has put off more potential supporters and half the current supporters as well. Greenturd has just fed the monster which is now totally out of control

Off the charts out of control, BUT, let's keep them viable and in the Comp so our mates at Chan 9 are happy!!

I seriously hate those pricks now, so pleased I can watch 99% of the games I want to on Foxtel.

According to ASADA, possession is a no-no:

https://www.asada.gov.au/rules-and-violations/anti-doping-rule-violations

From memory, possession was one of the counts they got Sandor Earl on as well, although that was peptides etc.

Funnily enough, it would seem the ol' pingers are only banned 'in competition'...

So maybe Norman is in the clear as far as ASADA are concerned, since he wasn't playing footy at the casino when he was caught with his Tic-Tac box of illegal lollies...

Sandor got done for trafficking - he was taking them from one place to another - and he was the only one hung out to dry in that whole saga.

Surely Norman should fall under the same category, will be very interesting to see what Toddie does from here.
A high profile player pleads guilty to possession of pingers so one would assume he knows what they are, that they are illegal ( for everyone ) and a banned substance from a professional footballers viewpoint.
As for being " in competition", in competition runs from March to Sept.

Maybe he could use the old Cheech & Chong skit when Bob Bitch'n was in court...
"Your honour, my client had merely found those drugs and was on his way to the Police Station to hand them in at the time of his arrest..."

Seems his 'punishment' will be a $2.4M contact with Illawarra for three seasons.
Just as long as you can play football it doesn't matter how big a scumbag you are, clubs will still want you - Manly included. What a great sport RL is now that it has become a business!

I wonder why ASADA have not sanctioned Norman.

Possession of prohibited substances and prohibited methods.
Athletes can receive sanctions for having possession of prohibited substances or methods, even if they have not taken the substance, or used the method.

If an athlete needs to take a prohibited substance or use a prohibited method for health reasons, they may be able to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

I'm surprised that Todd greensnot has not been flooded with open letters from school principals noting how they won't allow nrl in their schools now because of Norman's drug and sex exploits.

Pretty sure xtc is a no-no and having prescription medicines that are not yours are also frowned upon by the NRL. I can't imagine a billion dollar sport saying illegal drugs are ok

The grey area will be what they consider 'in competition' vs 'out of competition' - if, as @StuBoot said above, 'in competition' means during the length of the season, then you'd expect an ASADA sanction. I kind of suspect they will say it's only 'game day' that counts as 'in competition' though - given the way Andrew Johns' drug-taking was brushed off because apparently he wasn't popping pills on game days.

I'd have thought if a substance was illegal it'd automatically be on the banned list, all the time - but apparently not. MDMA is only banned in competition because it's a stimulant - I suspect treated the same way as having excess caffeine in your system (as in, down as many coffees or Red Bulls as you want on training days, but watch it on race day in case you go over the allowable limit).
