November Targets

I think most of our long-serving players are all just used to losing now. They're as surprised when they get a win as we are. And there's no actual leadership in our leadership group. I mean, our captain is abandoning ship in the hope of getting a bit more personal glory at the arse-end of his career. What else can we expect?
Not sure if you’ve noticed but even Jake ( who used to be morbid when we lost ) just looks a bit down these days , so you might be right.

I think the dollar chaser has a lot to answer for this year , we started off beautifully and really ever since his announcement we’ve only had one superb game , and and even the other wins haven’t been emphatic.

I’m glad we missed out on Josh Kerr. I think looks good at the Dolphins but he’s a good penalty and mistake magnet and that’ll rear its head again next year!
We don't need more mature an aged prop. I honestly think the Raiders reject is the right fit at man, middle aged but inexperienced at NRL. He'll be willing to learn, but out to show he belongs after years in Ressies. Mobile. Why aren't we in the hunt. Why.

Jake is a natural leader, unfortunately it’s important for a leader to lead by example, and Jake’s best days are behind him. But agree, after him, there isn’t much by way of leadership material.
Agree…..if Jrbo or Trbo are not captains I’d go with Fogarty! Not sure how that would go down with the players tho! Other than that maybe Olakau’atu & Garrick co captains. I think Garrick would make a good captain…..in my opinion!

I’m starting to believe this.
The guy is regarded as a joke up here. I know multiple people involved with him over the years in footy. He's out of his depth with a vocabulary just good enough to convince similarly unintelligent people he has some idea.He got the Broncos job through the Rockhampton connection that has ****ed that club for years too.Paul Whyte( credentials -ex copper) only employed people from Rocky and Anthony was the only one available lol

No top flight origin standard player will sign while he is here. Take that as an absolute given.

That's one thing of the few things The Chaser did get right. He knows

Yet some posters think its a good idea to stick with him since the owner is all to blame irrespective of who the coach is. Those posters don't realise its harder to change owners than to change coaches, so its best to do nothing until we change owners. Delmege proved its not just all about money and managed to allowed the club to win 2 rings. Delmege isn't an Uncle Nick by any means but proved its possible to win with good decision making and lesser resources. I'd bet Delmege would never have signed DCE to the sort of contract that stifled the club for years.
Some think its better to stick with Seibs since no one in their eyes can do a better job...

Admittedly DCE's contract was more than it should've been, but Tom and Jake have both been on huge money , Jake far more than his worth and Tom played only half of the actual games, whereas DCE hardly missed any games

Can't disagree with that although the club have made so many bad decisions regarding other signings. I know this sounds very much in hindsight, but I was very much was for putting someone like Kaeo Weekes in the 5/8 spot over signing Brooks, at the time they signed Brooks.. That money could have been spent on a decent forward. We overlooked Weekes for Cooper Johns, Arthur and Brooks. Even if it didnt work out, it wouldnt have cost a cent.

We rightfully expected a lot more from our egotistical captain with that piece placed in the puzzle.

True we only gave Weekes just a taste of first grade and cast him away, dumb

We still don't know if Garrick is staying or going, though.

Dire state of affairs that Manly appear willing to do anything but re-sign him.

I doubt that Delmege had much impact on the recruitment/retention front and when he did it was bad.* That stuff was in the realm of Des and the CEO.

*Does the Michael Monaghan saga of 2005 ring any bells?

Thing was - Weekes got thrown to the Wolves....his debut (well starting at 5/8) his position of choice, they opted to throw him in against the red hot Penrith side and he got destroyed, both physically and mentally.....just poor decisions up stairs and can point the finger at a few, but the thing is, this is just 1 example of many.

This club does stupid decisions like this all the time. Weekes, Metcalf, Verrills, Hynes, etc. All promising juniors that came through our system, but only one would play for Manly; Weekes. Hynes has a Dally M, Metcalf probably would've won this year if not for the ACL injury, Verrills won a comp with the Roosters, and Weekes is every chance to win with Canberra this year.

For example, if we invested more in our juniors system, there's every chance we avoid the violent Halves carousel that's plagued the club for the last 10 years. There hasn't been a single pairing to play more than 2 full seasons together. And while I rate Fogarty, he and Brooks will retire pretty close to each other, creating a situation where both our halves after those two are still very green.

Hard to say with some of these types of re signings when a player is on pretty decent coin already
Maybe Garrick wishes to test his value in the open market soon and with the cap increasing soon also but that would be proportional to all clubs including Manly
Valuable team member but don't think that he can command at Manly at least , that much more then his current [ think ] in the 600 - 650 k range even again with the pending increased cap
Fair to say that his goal kicking has actually not been that flash for some time now but as a well noted clubman as well, certainly would prefer that he can be retained longer term somehow and on manageable terms
May even be his last or 2 nd last N R L contract coming up soon so understandable if he may try and get maximum or close to it , in terms of top dollar

I am hoping The Roosters target a good few more of our players.

I think you can guess the roughly half dozen players that would compliment DCE and Tedesco.

Until at least 5 of their starting side contains ex-Manly players from the 2025 side I wont be able to cheer for them. Not even vs Storm.

He’s hoping for fullback money from the Bears , and good luck to him if he can get it , he’d go from $600 to a million plus
