NRL to introduce fines and suspensions for players who waste time when sin-binned
NOVEMBER 16, 2018

The NRL Competition committee was scathing last week of the practice which saw some players take more than a minute to leave the field in 2018.

It has proposed that a new time limit of 25 seconds be set to leave the field.

It will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of coaches and the ARL Commission.

A shot clock would be displayed on the scoreboard from the moment the player is sent to the bin.

Anyone arguing with the referee would risk going over the limit.

The competition committee said players who take too long to leave the field should be hit with a grade one contrary conduct charge which carries a fine of $1500.

Any player who receives a third contrary conduct for any offence during the season cannot be fined and would be suspended instead.

The competition committee comprises of the likes of Mal Meninga, Darren Lockyer, Ivan Cleary, Paul Green, and Greg Inglis.

There talk of additional for players who argue with the referees and then dawdle off the field.

If, for example, a player took 40 seconds to leave the field of play, and extra 15 seconds would be added to their 10 minutes in the sin-bin.

Here is a better idea... If you don't leave the field within 15-25 seconds of being told you're binned by the ref, you get sent off. The fine or suspension can come later.

Adding x amount of seconds to sin bin time will be exploited by teams to revive their players, depending on where and when the professional foul was conceded.

when policing doesn't work, the best thing to do is add more policing to it, because constant measures of control and over policing have always been a way to inspire people to do the right thing more......right? right?

The NRL needs new rules like I need constant meltdowns in public from my 3 year old

10secs to jog off the field at the nearest point. Exceed that and your sin binning becomes 5 minutes longer. Just get off the field already !!

Funny how every time something wrong with the NRL is brought up there has to be either a photo of a Manly player or the club mentioned. Useless Pr!cks!
