NRL Trialling 'Hawkeye' Technology for offsides

It's hilarious, all it takes for it to fail is to have the camera view obstructed by one of 4 officials or 26 players on field at the time of the incident 😛

Walkers front foot toe at ground level, can now be aligned with the back tip of a football held in a player's hand, off the ground and a good 40 meters away on a surface that is sloped - yeah, right :nerd:

So just as most of us are calling for less Video Referee involvement in a game, it seems the NRL is committing to more.

Apparently the NRL has been trialling 'Hawkeye' tech to be used to determine if a play is offside. Surprise Surprise, guess which try they used to vindicate their decision. @

I assume this same tech will be used for forward passes.

They didn't use it in our game.

"Gooden insisted the technology was not available to the bunker – or anyone – on the night."

🙂

It remains a 'interesting....and incorrect' call by the bunker.

Was there a photo with a line across the field showing he was on side? Is this just another case of the NRL trying to vindicate some bad calls?
What Greenturd doesn't get is that the NRL rule is for the Bunker, at the game, needs to find conclusive eidence to over rule a Ref's call.:wait:

Applying technology after the fact, can only mean that the decision on the night had no video proof - the Bunker lied/guessed 😎

If the Peachy video from the Broadcaster has been found, where is the Walker video

Hawkeye is just the Bunker Buster in this case 😀

Why do they need technology when they have a human micrometer in the bunker who can overturn with discretion. If they take a week, 8 angles. 4 scientists, 2 lasers and fortest gump to conclusively over rule the ref there was not enough evidence to overturn the on field decision. Its just that simple

Remeber when harrigan was video ref and blamed his plasma screen when gasnier slam dnked a try

The nrl, todd, the bunker are inmassive damage control with a justifyathon in full swing.

Would they just be better off paying some clubs to take a dive. At least then they could carry on without all the commotion

Call it hawkeye bulls eye, it's all a crock..you've still got a dud from the NRL that has to interpret the footage and make a ruling. How convenient that they were secretly trialling this tech at manly's game and they have footage that proves walker was offside.. Sounds like the X files area 54 conspiracy.. Show us your birth certificate Greenturd!

By their own admission the technology is not quite ready. " The unanimous view is that it's not quite there. If we throw it in and it tells a 50-50 story for a try, it will cause more problems for the game."
But it's accurate enough to prove walker was 100% offside vindicating the refs and the fine TB copped..

According to the article;
We received the video this afternoon and it showed that Walker was offside, according to the technology," NRL general manager of innovation, Luke Gooden, told Fairfax Media.

True, they didn't have it on the night...and the creator still says it's not 100% so there's no way, on the night, it should have been overturned.

This 'supposed proof' as they say is really trying to retroactively prove an incorrect decision correct which is what you said (Spartan). tick!

Scrap that

On Saturday night I was in bay 33 second back row the pass and kick happened right in front of me, even with my one eyed supporters cap on walker was not offside line ball at best in line with green..in real time that was a try.

I don't need any technology or bunker to tell me that.
And the peachy try, I had a few panthers supporters around us who conceded that is was a knock on but we're giving it to us when the decision came back try, they knew they just got away with one.

In the end of the day though for me compare that performance to say the roosters game earlier on in the year, we were off by small bit on Saturday, just execution was not there.

Think only 51 weeks until we are back the big stage again, finals 2018 I know our boys will want to atone for that performance.

The only positive of the NRL now reviewing past game's ruling is that Manly can demand the Hawkeye view of Maloney's 2013 pass to Mini

Serious question....

WTF are they doing "trialing" something in finals?????

Just what type of amateur competition is the NRL trying to run here??

They've been secrectly trialing it since the 9s and it still doesn't work. 😕

It would be simple if Hawkeye was programed to extrapolate the space time continuum, the curviture of the earth and how it all resulted in light refracting forward off Dylan Walker's boots :nerd:
