NSW Cup 2025

I don't get the navale negativity classic manly we never blood anyone young.
How can someone prove themselves without building 10-20 games of first grade.
That's the whole point of young guys we seem to develop them until just before first grade then never give them a go.
Instead we sign 3 or 4 33 plus yr olds.
That certainly won't build a strong squad capable of winning comps.

We don't use TT2 off the bench so we could swap him with that role.

So many poor decisions

I don’t know if it is negativity but novices like myself that do not watch the reserves.. have heard the names of a dozen or so players coming through that are going to be the next Messiah! It gets tiresome after a while. Rarely do they kick on at another club … remember all the fuss about humphreys schuster…

Just sayin’

Interesting .
Our recruitment of old heads clearly hasn't worked as for the speculation of young guys not kicking on its hard to know as they don't get a crack anyway .
Hopefully it changes next year.
Do you think the forward recruitment has worked ?

Where are those St George backrowers now...
Props, Tuitavake and Fifita.

Nowhere.

Like most things on here, things are usually overly hyped or overly harshly rated.

Truth lays in the middle.

On Navale, I think he shows promise. Good leg speed, all round solid game.

He is not a game breaker but I think he has shown enough to get more of a chance in first grade then he has.

Whether he kicks on as a first grader of substance well jury is out, but deserves his shot.

Who did they sign when they were 33 plus years old.
Haha get into the technicalities cmon mate
You know what I mean.
Waddell lodge jazz brown and co all on the verge of heading to england and we gave them contracts over giving the likes of navale game time. They have a crack granted but it won't cut it to build a team capable of competing for premierships there too slow.

Please watch a bit more of him in NSW Cup before making calls like that – otherwise you really just end up sounding like fools. You can’t judge a bloke off a 15 minute stint in first grade. Anyone who actually follows reserve grade and the junior pathways knows he would offer a genuine point of difference in our pack with his punchy, powerful carries and elite leg speed. He’s got serious pace for a middle forward and is quick off the mark. I’m happy to attach a highlights reel of a couple of his long range tries for anyone who thinks otherwise. He also leads NSW Cup in tackles made this year and is tackling at 96% efficiency, so defence is no issue either.

And I wouldn’t be putting too much faith in this so-called “coaching staff” led by Seibold, who has shown time and time again he’s got no idea when it comes to team selections. Watch more of him and you’ll see exactly why some of us rate him so highly.
I've watched Navale several times this season. He is quick and tackles effectively and often. Has scored a couple of tries involving distance running. Reckon he offers much more upside than Waddell or Chee Kam.

I've watched his games in 1st grade and rep footy.

I take with half a grain of salt what people who watch reserve grade report on him, good or bad.

Many, many players are good reserve graders but never take the next step in cementing first grade spots.

I just gave my thoughts without definitively saying he will or will not make it. My post included questions for the next person to offer a counter argument as you have done.

I don't think there was anything foolish about what I said, I think the question will be answered in 5 years time when we look at what Navale is doing now.
I’m curious – if you don’t value anyone’s opinion on players in reserve grade or their form, and Seibold won’t play Navale in first grade either, then how are you supposed to make a fair assessment of him as a player? If you’re not going to take on board what others are saying, then at least watch him in NSW Cup and form your own opinion.

He’s only had 31 minutes in first grade this year because Seibold refuses to pick him or play him any decent minutes, so the sample size you’re basing things on is very small. No one is claiming he’s the messiah, but he offers exactly what we’re lacking – leg speed, impact, mobility, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic in the middle. He’s signed until the end of 2027, so clearly someone at the club rates him, even if the head coach doesn’t.

So I’ll put it back to you – what do you believe Navale is lacking right now that stops him from playing first grade, and why wouldn’t you give him a go when we’re practically no chance of making finals and the current approach isn’t working?

Suggest you rewatch the 30+ minutes of his time in first grade this season. Poor line speed. Could he grow and improve with time?… of course. But, his FG appearances hardly set the world on fire, and highlighted stuff he needs to work on.

the post you have me quoted on shows I have asked questions for anyone to offer a counter argument against my opinion, basically relenting that by no means do i think my current opinion is the end all and be all. I also said I take peoples opinions with a half a grain of salt, meaning there are people who post positively and those that post that people are talking him up too early. So, yes I am interested in others thoughts, but I wont be swayed until he plays more first grade. If he was playing well atm, he would have been picked ahead of Chee Kam and Schoup, no?

I see reserve grade sparingly just to watch the team as a whole, and he goes ok from what ive seen, but i dont watch a lot cause I dont have time to watch reserve graders just to judge their form when a high % never reach 1st grade consistently or at all, I have more fun things to do. Laziness...ok.

To your questions, when I see him in 1st grade the 5 or so games hes played so far, i see him as someone who just barely holds his own. Ive actually thought after a period he looks gassed and he came on from the bench, and yes, some players require playing 1st grade to get up to that speed, and I cant answer why he hasn't had more game time this year. Some players just look like a 1st grader. He didnt. The coaching staff obviously think he is not quite ready yet. Do I kinda lean towards them having more of a clue than frustrated Silvertails posters, yes. As for getting some game time after Manly are definitively out of the running in 2025, sure! And no, I think Manly are no chance, but coaches dont give up until its over.

It will be interesting to see if he gets a run to gauge the coach and staff's opinion of where he is at.

Saab is signed until 2027 also, so clearly someone at the club rates him, but 'sometimes things dont always work out as you expect.
