Other Games [Round Four, 2022]

Can anyone tell me why the try by the Tigepies in the first half wasn't even reviewed ???
Looked ok from where I was sitting.
That’s what I said. I went back and reviewed it, and I don’t know why it wasn’t a try. That’s two weeks in a row for the Tigers where a review at least was warranted. Not to worry, Annersley will brush that one under the carpet as well.

Thanks V8. Still think they should have sent it up to the bunker.

I agree, but it would have just been a waste of time. Later replays showed that Atkins actually got it right.

I guess it shows just how used to having the video replay used in try calls we are these days. The last couple of weeks have seen a couple of refs go old school and actually back their own judgement and call no-try without help from The Bunker. And while I believe that both calls were correct, the fact that they didn't send it upstairs for a check seems to be the biggest talking points.

I personally like when refs back themselves and make a call based on what they have seen with their own eyes. Sure they'll make mistakes doing that, they're only human after all. But I'd rather we got back to refs having the balls to make a call rather than taking the easy Bunker option all the time.

Gotta admit, I was conflicted by the bunkers forward pass call when Tits attacked from the kick-off last night...
Part of me was "stay out of it bunker" whilst the other part was "it IS forward"...

I think it comes down to consistency... if you are gonna intervene then do it EVERY time... Manly had some instances last year where penalties were awarded against us 4-5 tackles later yet the bunker has failed to intervene similarly in 50 games since...

That wasn't the bunker last night. They can't call on forward passes. In the end though it clearly was forward. Brent Kite and Robbo did that move best in the 2008 Grand Final.

The biggest issue fans have with the match officials is just consistency. We all know we're going to give away penalties in a game. We just want the refs to be consistent in their calls.

The problem is that they are never consistent. Not game to game, not week to week. Hell, sometimes not even in the very same game.

I did not think so either but the touchie did not stop the play and the ref had the bunker in his ear when he was walking back so...?

I may be wrong but I thought the touch judge kept running with the play so unless it was called from the far side maybe?...

As far as I was aware, Atkins made the call himself.

Tolman should thank our coach because if it hadn't been for him Tolman would of never reached his 300th game tonight, he must of played a 100 games for the dogs and never dropped.

footy's on!

wait that means it is after midnight

oh gawd, it's now April fools day here

sigh

The quality of this game (especially defensively) compared to last night isn’t in the same universe. Fitzgibbon has really got the Sharks going well. And how was that for a try from Katoa.

Sharks are playing well.

Knights look like they've reverted to "If Ponga can't do it, neither can the rest of us".

Do you reckon Dane Gagai will be having Telakai nightmares after tonight. FMD.

Had to dessert FOX - cant watch/listen to Ginnane and Ennis.

Watching on 9.

Gee id like a few close ups of those Panfer cheerleaders, and their silky leggin's.
