Papua New Guinea

If the NRL are serious about this they need to at least give the club a couple of years to set up and sign players rather than accepting them in 2024 and expecting them to compete in 2025. The dolphins were already an established club that a fair few NRL players had come through in the juniors and they struggled to sign any big names for their inaugural season. I can only imagine itll be a lot harder for PNG.

Tax free is really going to appeal.

Imagine you’re a 1 million a year player , in Australia you’ll net about half of that ( without working out the exact amount ).

So 3 years in Australia you’ll bank roughly 1.5 million , double that if you play up there.

But you’ll have to be prepared for you and your family to live in a semi jail like environment for months at a time.

Like the name the Chiefs.

Still think the entire thing will crumble within a decade
Whilstever the NRL are pouring money in , and giving them advantages it’ll work very well , but once they have ti stand on their own the corruption that exists in this country will topple them quickly.

A decade is optimistic , 5 years at best

5 wooden spoons, 3 coaches and players walking out on contracts. Thats the first 5 year forecast from me. And Aussie taxpayers down $600 million.
