Poll can you trust bloody humans?

here’s a quick poll (possibly apt for another Manly in crisis week!)

Left unattended, do humans tend to quickly revert to a dog eat dog, every man for himself approach? Are we slaves to a selfish gene? Or is it the opposite?
What do we think of humanity at large? No doubt we all have a view of our species, which is currently dominating the entire world!

Scenario: a plane crash lands, breaks apart, starts filling with smoke

Planet A – Passengers turn to their neighbour and ask, Are you OK? Those needing help are helped off the plane first

Planet B – everyone is left to fend for themselves, lots of pushing and shoving, the young, the old the disabled get trampled underfoot

Which planet do we live in?

Held a door open for a young lady awhile ago and all I got was an eyeroll and sigh. Wasn't looking for thanks, just being nice but it's a "me" world these days unfortunately.

Fair enough. Clearly you're right that different people act in different ways, but I was probably more wondering how we all see humans in general, whether we have traits as a species? to be helpful or the other way, eg the Lord of the flies idea that left alone on a dessert island humans will typically turn on each other

I believe the majority of the people on this forum and of this world are caring and kind like your good self feathered friend other wise we would have All eaten each other out of existence

Whilst most of us (thankfully) won't be involved in a plane crash, all of us come across the situation of holding a door open for someone. I do it for people regardless of sex, colour, age or ability etc. And yet occasionally I get the response like you did. Always from younger women who must assume I'm trying to get into their knickers and the simple act of holding a door open is the magic key to get me in there. It doesn't put me off doing it the next time, I suppose it's just the way I was brought up (my mum would have given me a crack across the head if she saw me not holding a door open for someone)
