Positive suggestions for the club going forward

Sorry for the long title @globaleagle but I needed the word 'positive' in there because we already have the odd Sack Seibold thread. So ...

I'd like waaay better communication from the club. I realise they can't trumpet signings until they're done but there's plenty of other areas that we're left in the dark.

Tell us about injured players on a regular basis. They used to have a weekly physio report. Why don't we have that anymore?

If Seibold is not to be sacked, at least tell us if this is his final year and what the plan is. Wouldn't expect that with any other coach but then he has said that he doesn't want to ... be a coach.

Treat members with a little more respect. The 'membership team' feels like a bunch of work experience kids. Given that they are most people's only contact with the club, get some grownups in.

Be clear on the website about the Top 30 players. There are currently 34 players listed there. What's that?

Under Coaches, there is just one coach listed. Why?

And rather than The Manly Way marketing tool, why not interview a player, coach, physio each week and tell us about their backgrounds, daily/weeky routine, game day etc. Engage us.

That's it from me off the top of my head. Anyone else got any thoughts?

And please try to stick to the positive. The constant chirping of bottom four, dad's army, Seibold is rubbish etc., gets plenty of air on the rest of the site.

Yep, as you say, better communication from the club.

I get that there are reasons why player's medical/injury condition also recruitment/retention negotiation can't always be broadcast.

But we now have Manly Sea Eagles reserve grade, we've got various junior sides and young players, so how hard would it be to bring us more info about them? Not hard at all, but would mean hiring an extra staff member. Do it!

It would also give us some excitement about players coming through.

Excitement leads to memberships Tony!

The trouble is it’s the budget approach , right across the board It not only affects coaching but recruitment & front office.

This is what you get when you run things on a shoestring.

The positive suggestion approach?

I would like to see prominent New York resident, Mr Scott Penn, throw quite a bit more money the club's way.

See how it's done Mark? 🤣

Sad to hear that Wheel. It was such a wonderful initiative
Agree , and should be reinstated for 2026.

See that’s one of the major issues the fans now feel a disconnect.

I wonder if we all hold back on renewing if things might change ??

@The Wheel I’ve never been one much for the protest approach , but perhaps this is our only option.

All very good points Budgie, it would be good to raise this at a members council meeting but that has been shafted as well
That probably means my suggestion will be ignored:
Let members of Silvertails put questions to the club, or individual players, and hopefully have them answered. It could be in the form of an Ask Igor column that is updated weekly. I realise we'd almost certainly only receive woke responses or, even worse, AI-generated answers. But it is an initiative that would improve fan engagement.

That's pretty much the crux point between fans and club isn't it?

There was a poster on here recently (can't remember who sorry) who said they'd asked the club not to auto renew quite a big membership after 15 years and got a simple email back from the club saying something like, sorry to lose you after FOUR years. That stuff should always be correct and they can do much more here.

In another example of the simple stuff they can do better, my partner has a condition that makes walking difficult. There is not enough parking for everyone who wants disabled parking so they run a lottery for every home game. We usually get lucky a couple of times a year. They send out an email checking that you want to go into the draw for each game. A couple of months back there was no email. I sent to the club, checking that we'd been included in the draw, only to get a (very pleasant) response asking for our rego details (which they'd had all year) and confirmation that we would be added. Again, they can do better.

I first joined as a member in 2004.

About 10 years ago they sent me a 5 year membership badge.

I went back to them at the time and said , shouldn’t that be a 10 year badge ??

No , we only show you as having joined in 2009.

Ah , well ( me ) here’s a photo of my members caps going back to 2004.

Them , you could have been given those by someone else.

Me , I give up , don’t care any more , it no huge deal but I am pissed that in essence you are calling me a liar.

Then in 2024 they sent me a 10 year badge.

Absolute amateurs.

Bad enough, but the "could have been given those by someone else" comment is beyond belief from a professional organisation. I guess we all just make up the numbers.

I really think I'kk sit out the membership until Seibold is no longer coach. And that's a positive for the bank balance!
