With all this current talk about penalties for -
Swearing,
No shoulder rule,
100 interchanges,
And the total pussifying & dumb downed, boring current version of the game,
Mixed with the pedestal the NRL places their prima donna ref's on,
And the total disregard shown to our great game by the current NRL hierarchy.

If another League came along promising the game to be played in mold of 15 years past,
That supported fans ,smaller suburban grounds alongside the big ones ,and an even share of royalties to clubs from TV rights.
And run by current & ex coaches & players (people with the love of rugby league & its well being & integrity).
Would you still feel the same way you did back in the ARL/Superleague war years ??
Would you feel happy about abandoning the nrl ?

in a heart beat the current so called leaders have wrecked this once great game that we all love manly forever

Absolutely as well - NRL has done nothing for Manly.They favour the high profile clubs like Souths and Roosters. The game has become so boring with 5 hit ups and then a towering punt and there needs to be drastic changes to allow the smaller attacking players a chance .When Daley came out and said Johnston needed to bulk up just shows how the game cruels a wonderful attacking player.

I think its fair to acknowledge its not just that bald knob Greenberg and Smith who seem to be changing the game. The game has also evolved a lot through coaches and teams (cough Storm cough) determination to win. Even if it means introducing wrestling/borderline illegal tactics. Before we know it most teams have implemented similar tactics. The game has probably changed more because of all teams desire to win rather than rule/interpretation changes.

EDIT: Perhaps its 50/50. A mix of rule/interpretation changes as well as coaches employing different training/playing methods. This has changed the game enormously over 20 years

Yeah but if the NRL are anything, they are inconsistent. So by letting those incidents slide, its okay. Classic NRL oxymoron
