get a lot of abuse for every mistake.
And that's what they sign up for, that's what they're paid for.
But I'm always impressed when they ping someone for being out of play.I never spot that (admittedly most games I see on TV) but they get it right many times.
So here's a rarity from someone who has been known to sing out, 'Get em onside, they've been doing it all day' at Brookie, during the opening set... a plaudit for refs, who do a difficult and thankless job

The Bunker tip them off; there’s someone in there who is given the job to watch over that on every ruck.

Regardless, it’s such a difficult job and a very thankless one. The pay off is they get the absolute best view in the house every week. It must be so exhilarating for them at times.

It's a reluctant like.

Look that was the right call and well spotted but in first half he let them be a like offside when we tried to run it out near our line and then let them lay all over us. Apart from that he had a good game

I think NRL refs and off-field officials are too nit-picky. They almost never acknowledge a knock back; seems every time a ball is dropped it always is ruled to have gone forward. Funny how the Clunker can rule if a ball goes forward yet not a forward pass.
Also, the six-agains are a lottery, as well as lying on players for too long and second tacklers in.
Then we have the Clunker slowing everything down which is not how the game is played. It distorts what our eyes have just seen.
I'm hoping the SOO ref lets the match flow because an arbitary penalty can change the course of a contest. Let the players decide the result, not turn a match into an episode of CSI.

Thankfully games like Origins usually see refs getting the "This is our showpiece. You're not the most important thing out there so just let the game flow" type of instructions.

Ah yes, the refs.

turbo gets an incidental knock to the head...ref stops the game, makes sure he is ok and play on.

A cowboy player gets an incidental boot to the noggin when Haumole has the ball and has two tacklers all over him.
Play stopped, manly penalised, boot on report, cowboys get the ball 10 metres out.

Yes, those refs.

**** 'em
