The hobbled together 1991 Manly team were given no hope in that semi against Canberra.

Ok, Manly ultimately lost, but we can thank some bad luck and some doubtful officiating errors.

Manly lost to a team that went on to nearly win the grand final.

And what about 1978 where Manly were playing mid week matches and using needled players and reserve graders. Manly won that grand final.

Don't lose heart for 2011 just yet.

The 78 team was amazing. Best Manly team in our history. What they achieved was phenomenal. My memory of that time was our brilliant fans who turned the old sheridan stand at the SCG into fortress Brooky, great times and great memories. The team we have now can match them for sure.

one of the greatest games i ever attended in 91.Coyne got four(the winner off a charge own I think) and IRO (YES IRO!) had a blinder.
