Yeah I noticed it hit a nerve; I’m no Seibs hater but he looked down and his eyes told a story.

One thing I’m growing a bit of tired of is when we lose convincingly, he always reminds us that it ‘was a tough game’ and that the opposition are a ‘good side’. I think I don’t like it because I get the sense that he’s purposefully going out of his way to curate a more favourable narrative, rather than talking straight.

This has been his strategy since the media pile on he copped at Brisbane. I could see this from day 1 here.

It comes across as weak as piss. Those confident in their abilities couldn't give a rat's about media narrative. Seibold's energies are instead spent on deflecting negative attention on him for as long as possible as he attempts to prolong a well-renumerated career that he clearly doesn't have the skillset for.

His assistant coaching record is also extremely poor.

I reckon that whatever the issues have been in our club over the past 10 years that have caused us to be so inconsistent & not a top 4 club have come to a head this season & what we're seeing are the final death throes of the hierarchy behind these issues.

I don't think it's a coincidence that since arriving at the club, Mestrov has ousted the Fultons, Tartak, & now, seemingly, DCE.

We can all opine on what we believe is really happening behind the scenes - & I know as much as the rest of you, & no more - but I'm quite excited in seeing what the new post-Fulton, Tartak & DCE (& the Turbos on reduced contracts) era delivers, starting in season 2026.

James Graham was talking about coaches under the pump this season on Triple M last night & he rattled off 5 or 6 criterium that clubs take into account when considering letting a coach go. I can recall performance, circumstances, injuries, player opinion among them.

I have a feeling the club are giving Seibold the benefit of the doubt this season due to the destabilising influence DCE's TV announcement earlier this season had. If there is an issue between DCE & Seibold, & Mestrov has made the decision to back Seibold & not renew DCE on big bucks, then all power to him - I believe it's the change we need to have to move on as a club. If it's resulted in 2025 being a write off, so be it.

Here's to a new era in 2026 & onwards.

Umm yeah!!! Thats been the complaint about him for years!! Never facing reality in his press conferences. How about just saying we are not good enough and we need to be better.

If it's true that DCE would rather leave after 14 years than be at a club where seibold ( and choc) are coaches and the turbos are not re-signing while he is coach then it's a massive problem with only one fix.

I said at the start of the season that it looked like Cherry was determined to get Seibold sacked on his way out the door, which at this stage wouldn't really bother me one way or the other. But if Seibold's only legacy at Manly is as the guy who finally brought an end to the DCE era, I will thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours. (Others might feel the same about jettisoning Jake and Tom, although I think they both deserve contract extensions at a reduced rate.)

I try to give Seibold the benefit of the doubt, I really do. But he always manages to say something that infuriates me.

Scott Fulton was the last remaining member of the Fulton family at Manly & he was sacked at the end of 2023.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Olakau'atu and Paseka are massive outs. The control Fogarty brings would've been the difference in 1-3 losses this year.

On Paseka, the NRL coaches poll at the start of the year had him as the third most underrated player in the game. People dunk on him because he doesn't make 300 metres a game or whatever, but he creates value elsewhere. People are too obsessed with statistics due to SC, and hence are lost on what players are actually valuable for. This is also why Jake will likely be selected for the Kangaroos in absence of Tino and Haas.

E.g. off how many of Paseka's play the balls, did we score last year? A quick or useful play-the-ball is incredibly valuable, and this isn't statistically measurable. Jake Trbojevic provides a quick PTB, as did Aloiai and Paseka, although Paseka also brings a third man into the tackle - which then creates the numbers for us out wide.

So many of our tries were created from an extra man being physically devoted towards the threat that Paseka and Olakau'atu provided, and hence freeing up the edges. Of course, he's also a massive human, and if he could produce ~140m per game, which he did, then that's good too.

I think enough has been said about DCE. He's actively bombing the season.

I admire your optimism. I fear, however, that it's going to be more of the same shyte well into 2026 and beyond.

At the heart of the problem is that all our woes, ineptness and docility for last decade are a result of our owner - and while ever he still remains in place, ain't nothing going to change.
