It was a fiction created by our owner, CEO and coach.
Suspect it mainly came from the owner - and has created such a short term focus in the club and led us to where we are now.

Seibold was under pressure straight away on the back of this top4 window stuff, and it has led him to having short term thinking when it comes to retention and recruitment.

Maybe during Seibold’s most successful time at the club, his job interview,he said the squad assembled and the Tigers rejects he could get access to,this is a top 4,premiership winning team and the window is wide open

Nicely summarised. Seibs would have agreed with the top four narrative, no doubt. That was how they announced his signing. Apparently, Manly was a top four side and needed a coach who could get us to the lofty end of the competition. Seibs was a desperate man despite his talk about going away and learning from his mistakes. His casual persona always seemed like an act to me.

A Confident coach would have set Penn and his cohorts straight before signing.

I'm hearing rumours, from an old playing mate, but an ex Manly premiership winner and representative player, who has been working under some first grade and rep grade NRL coaches has been informed a position on the Ashes tour might be an inconvenient time to be away despite the resume building.
sounds like Ballin.....

/* In summary without attempted ambiguity */

I'm hearing Matt Ballin might be our next coach.

Ballin's coaching record was um....... modest to say the least. What is wrong with someone like Hannay? Seriously we need a coach who is actually a coach.
An assistant with some credentials , yes I’d prefer Hannay over Ballin , and personally I believe the “ having to have Manly DNA is bull**** “.

I have no idea how Ballin has been faring as an assistant coach, but I don't think we take too much from his early days coaching kids at manly.

Someone may set me straight here, but it wasn't a great side was it? Manly at the time were not really invested in juniors, and I say this jokingly but i liken it to he just had all the small skinny waxheads from the northern beaches area, while other clubs had islander/aboriginal speedsters and beasts just annihilating Matt's team like they were under 12's
