I think what he is saying is either way a new coach will be in control for 2026. It’s yet to be decided if they will keep Seibold around to do the media side of things & take the heat while someone else is coaching in the background like Tigers did with the Sheens/Benji.

The thinking is having a rookie coach just focusing on the team will help them develop quicker rather than worrying about media pressures.
Except Sheens is a legend and has a history of premiership success for Benji to learn off.Not sure what Seibold has to offer a rookie

The game was well past Sheens when he came back I don’t think Benji learnt much from him at all which would explain the 3 spoons in a row. How their relationship turned out would also suggest they didn’t agree on much. It’s more about avoiding media pressure if it’s a poor first year but we’ll see what happens.

I agree re Sheens being past it,but he still had something to offer Benji with his experience. All Seibold offers is how to pull the wool over the eyes of executive types and getting early payouts

Doubt Willie Peters will coach Manly after what happened during his time when he was an assistant here when Barrett was in charge
Unfortunately that could hinder Manly’s chances if they wanted to go down that road. But those people he had issues with are no longer at the club, other than the Penn’s

I like the idea of Ennis getting a chance at some stage for the following reasons:
  • Has a bit of a hard edge when needed.
  • Speaks with clarity, good communicator.
  • Has experienced different coaching styles.
  • A premiership winner.
  • Could probably still put a reasonable showing on the training paddock.
  • Experience with Manly.
  • Known Motivator.
  • Current commentator role requires analysing every NRL club's player's strengths and weaknesses.
  • As above, understands the modern game including tactics.
  • Apparently key Manly players are impressed by him.
  • His high profile would likely draw players to club better than current Coaching staff.
  • Grew up supporting Manly and nephew (by marriage) of Frank Stanton (for those after Manly DNA).
