A man will face court in September after allegedly assaulting a mascot during the NRL match between Newcastle and Manly on Friday night.
The 25-year-old man from Tuggerawong on the NSW central coast was taken into custody after the incident, charged with assault and entering a sporting field without permission.
Television cameras captured a man throwing punches at the Manly Sea Eagles' beloved mascot, Egor, even after being held by a security guard.
The filmed scuffle lasted only a few seconds before other security guards arrived and dragged the man away. Egor eventually got to his feet and waved as the attacker was taken away.
The cameras did not capture what set off the incident, which happened about 10 minutes before the end of the match at Bluetongue Stadium in Gosford.

The incident generated great interest on rugby league internet forums, where people who claimed to be witnesses ridiculed the alleged attacker.
"F****** disgraceful," one fan wrote on The Front Row Forum.

"Why do we still have cavemen like this? what sort of example does that set for kids?"

Others thought the incident was "hilarious".

One wrote: "It's not as if the bloke could inflict damage on the mascot with all that padding."
The 25-year-old man is due to face the Gosford Local Court on September 1.
The Newcastle Knights, battered by injuries, went down to Manly 20-44.

The Big Question is why is the media looking at The Front Row Forums for any intellectual banter? Hahahahaha..

The place is an abuse fest.
