I'm sick of the out bid excuse every time we miss a player the truth is we are not a top shelf option anymore as a fan it makes me sad but I need to face the truth.
Agree that we are probably not an attractive option for young talent at the moment, but in fairness, neither are the Eels. Really, 9.75 times out of 10, it all comes down to money. If we'd offered more money than the Eels offered, he would have come here.

As much as I'd like to agree with you, it's an erroneous assertion.

The money thrown at TDS at the last minute by the eels was ridiculous.

It is a huge deal and I mean staggering in dollar terms.

They threw everything to land him and they have.

Good luck to them.
And 4.5yrs deal. Would have been good to land him, but he’s all potential right now. Need to find best in Simpkin now.

Would’ve been nice but not the end of the world. I wonder who we go for now, feels like we’re definitely trying to free up quite a bit of cap space quickly so something will happen soon you’d think?

We are destined to be a team of players that are not wanted by other clubs. If other clubs want a player we are not getting them.

If you have $800,000 to spare feel free to sponsor the club and you would have made a difference in this deal.

You have every right to be sick of our current position but we, as a Club, are dealing in an environment where the cold hard reality is players are now "educated" to take the biggest and highest bidder when it comes down to clubs of "similar standing".

The attraction players have to win a premiership is an outstanding position to maintain to the public, however, a majority of them know that isn't a realistic proposition, so why should they be denied the right to maximise their earning potential.

I could go on forever about this topic and certain clubs ability to attract players for "less money", the whole facade/charade that are "third-party deals" however, I'm sure I'd give my true identity away and the NRL and I aren't on good terms at present, so best I leave it at that.

I hate the eels but they made some tough decisions last off season we seem to be treading water as a club. Are we on the way up or way down? I'm not denying the eels opened the wallett but we seem to have nothing and with new clubs coming in what have we got to offer?

It was reported that TDS had a meeting with Seibold / Mestrov recently
.......................................................................and the rest is history
Seibold and Mestrov did not have the cards
Ryles must have impressed him . He had the ace of spades
No Look at @and we don’t care post ,eels came inlast minute with massive offer plus 4 yrs , we have others coming thru in that time
Eels was more $ and longer deal not necessarily Ryles being “impressive “
Thats a no brainer for TDS and his management

This last minute farce of failing to get our man
Never happened when we had the best administrator and negotiator in Arko
and he used to sign them for unders 😉

Not sure of his background, but maybe he preferred to stay out west where living is cheaper. Alternative would be to move to the Northern Beaches where housing etc is far more expensive, or do the daily horror commute. May have family out west too.
Family ?
Arko singed them from interstate QLD and Over seas England
Arko made Manly to feel like a family place for All players
Arko could sell Ice to the Eskimos .

just saw it reported on one eye eel it's 685 a season so I reckon he can afford pretty much anywhere, and if true that's massive overs.
