and it is was a failure as Barrett was sacked with a year remaining on his contract

Independent of whether Barrett was or was not a failure ... he was never sacked .. Barrett informed the club he would not be re-signing at the end of his contract ... (the reason I believe were the broken promises and non arrival of coaching and support staff )

Independent of whether Barrett was or wasn't sacked ... He was most certainly a failure ... He was a failure everywhere he went as a head coach, including his caretaker role at Parramatta. ... He is obviously a good assistant coach but a head coach he isn't.

My apologies, he wasn't officially terminated, he was relieved of his first grade coaching duties.

So whilst he wasn't terminated, he was relieved of his duties due to his coaching record at the club (win percentage, from memory, in the mid-30's), so he was essentially "sacked from the position" however not terminated, per se, from them Club.

Yes, you dont want that on your CV now do you.

I thought it was because he had to bring his own outdoor furniture to training???

I thought Barrett handed in his notice with 12 months to go after speaking to Gus, who advised him 'to protect his brand' & the club instead said 'see ya later' & placed him on gardener's leave?

NO ... He wasn't relieved of his duties either ... he coached up until his contract expired . Had he been relieved of his duties or "sacked" as you suggest ... he would have been entitled to an immediate payout .. No semantics change the facts.

"Barrett is still the coach until July 2019, after the club accepted his resignation.

But Manly's financial frailties mean they won't pay out Barrett before the terms of his resignation end in July."

"The four-month stand-off between Barrett and Manly is yet to be resolved, but under the terms of the new agreement the former coach will still be paid monthly provided he stays away from club training.

It comes after Barrett had reportedly considered showing up alongside replacement coach Des Hasler on Friday, before he was ultimately a no-show.

It's the first real agreement reached in negotiations, as Barrett continues to be employed by the club during his 12 months' notice period after resigning in July."
