Of course it is. By itself it makes no sense at all. But if its part of a player swap (for the rest of the season) that costs us nothing. Plus we receive financial compensation for the balance of DCEs contract (say 500K). We then use that say for a gun backrower, it makes a little more sense. It makes no sense to use that 500K (or part of) to pay for a half we wont need in 2026.

He agreed to "unders" ($700) club said no so he went to titans.
Foz screwed us so we threw a big deal at DCE as we had no half.

I don't think that 700k is unders, or atleast too far unders, being the stage of his career, the cap size.

Who cares about 2026 when it's 2025. Fogarty is not coming mid-year, so we need DCE to do our very best with the season at hand. The last thing our club needs is to release our halfback and captain early, and risk plummeting to the bottom of the ladder, challenging for the spoon, and setting our progress back 2-3 seasons. OK, we probably aren't winning the competition this year, but there are 29 other players in our top squad that could do with as many wins under their belt as possible this year.

Jeez I’m sick of this discussion ( it’s why I rarely comment on this thread ).

It’s really time to move on , he’s leaving , it’ll be at the end of the season and you can either cheer him on his final lap around Brooky , or stay silent.

That’s your choice.
