Budgie, I would dispute one issue here. Certainly DCE polarises fans, for reasons that are somewhat complex. However, there seem to be many who admire the oft criticised captain, including this little black duck. I note several on this site who think well of him so the correct statement is he's not popular among one section of the supporters. A little picky but must be said.

Fair enough. I'm not really talking about this site as much as what I see and hear from supporters of other teams. In the end it will come down to the hard nose decisions of TV execs. You rate or you don't. Personal preferences of one or two individuals don't make much difference. I, for example, would rather Matty Johns never showed his face in the media again. But I can definitely see why and how he appeals to his audience.

It's a huge assumption that there's a media job waiting for him. Media is cut throat about ratings and it's hard to imagine what he might bring.

He is not popular among fans, so he's not bringing an audience.

The current Nine commentators seem to be luke warm on him and have jumped right on to the Dump DCE bandwagon at the first opportunity.

He pretends to be articulate (and manages to fool some of the lower IQ fans) but he uses an awful lot of wrong big words in the wrong places.

Is there any evidence he can analyse a game?

I'm not sure that he's relatable to Joe Public.

M. Johns is near the top of the list of wish to never see again. Add in Gould, Fittler, A. Johns, Lockyer, Smith, Thurston, Voss, Kent, Hooper, Cronk, Tallis., hell they nearly all suck. Just keep all the female ones especiallu Allana, Danika and bring back Tiffany Salmond.

Not to defend DCE, but the bloke who has really fallen from grace at NRL level and again last night is Ponga who has been non existent

Only expectation i have with D C E is that he puts in or offers maximum effort on the field for Manly until season "s end
Quite good signs against the Cows and importantly , measured up defensively and with the backdrop of the still continuing off field distractions .
Could be the case that he has not definitely committed for next season , would have to still have the notion that he or his manager may earlier have had some informal arrangements with the Roosters but circumstances have definitely altered there with their present halfs situation .
Maybe Kotoa at the Dolphins could also handle a 6 tole .
Otherwise , looks like some very limited options for his future footy plans if not the case

Turbo and Jurbo did not step down from SOO selection
They made them selves available prior to their casualty status knowing their team is struggling for consistency .

Seems that every player values the opportunity to play for their sate and the opportunity to play in the Games Glorified Draw card

Not that footy [ or ex ] players or general commentators need that much gravitas to be suited to that set role but just have an impression that maybe D C E would not be necessarily a natural fit in the general public sense .
No question, capable of being quite well spoken also in a general sense but for a whole footy game or even just random takes , think that whatever articulate style he has , maybe would be not as saleable outside of his Manly duties and specific role there .
